| 492 square feet? Help! |
|
No.
|
| Depends what else you want in your one room. Table? Sofa? But honestly, if you are living alone you can easily sleep in a queen or full, and if there are two of you, you need more space and/or two rooms. |
|
Technically yes.
King size mattress is 42.15 sq ft. Seems like too much for my taste, but it should fit if the room is a square, and not odd dimensions. |

I always try and determine space by percentage.
A king sized bed is about 42 sq ft. In order for a room to be comfortable, you'll need thirty inches on three sides of the bed. This is about 48 sq ft. In total, you'll need 90 sq ft of space. Thats 18% of your total space. Do you want almost a fifth of your apartment to be your bed? |
+1 this is a good way to think about it. Also consider the shape of the apartment. If it’s a perfect square, it’s going to be hard to create a separate sleep space. Are there any nooks or spaces where a queen could fit for the illusion of privacy/separate space? |
No, but I also don’t want to live in a studio apartment. But this is what I have and my only option ATM. |
Technically yes but you will feel like you live in a hotel. I lived in a smaller studio - 400 sq ft- for a number of years and had a full size bed. You can do it - have you checked out the apartment therapy site? I great ideas for living big in small spaces. Founded by someone who lived in a small space in ny |

Will an elephant fit in my garage?
Yes. But he’d be uncomfortable and cost to much to feed. |
