We have three kids, all the same sex, and are expecting #4. Just found out that the new baby is the opposite sex, which the older kids are excited about, but my first -- slightly tongue in cheek but uh not entirely? -- thought was "now we have to have a fifth so people don't think we were just trying to get the opposite." I need to worry less about what other people think of me. |
I like your oldest’s sense of humor. Congratulations.

Do what I did: get a pet. |
Lol! Expecting my 4th also diff gender than my first 3 and had the dame thought. But I'm going for 10 kids regardless so it should be pretty obvious in a few years. |
That was OP’s first thought , not oldest kid’s. |
Um.
100% no you do not "have to" have a 5th. Are you serious? Are you actually serious or are you joking that this is a funny circumstance. Because if you are serious, God help you. |
A fifth of vodka maybe
And 10 kids is irresponsible |
Yay! |
It’s a joke. But it is what I thought! |
Thank you for the laughter, OP! And congrats! |
Haha! I thought a fifth referred to this too! |
That’s funny! But your kid is right, you’ll be asked forever if you were “going for” a boy or a girl. |
Def have a 5th so people know you were intentional about it. Tongues will wag all over your neighborhood.

Why are people reading the post this way? |
Haha! Very cute. Clever kid.
Congrats, OP! |
