Thunderstorms!

Any of you awake for the storm? I remember lightning like this here only once prior in my life, when I was a kid.

I really hope this doesn't kick off fires.

I grew up in the Bay Area (22+ years) and never heard thunder/saw lightning. Upon returning for visits (1990s and on) I noted occasional thunder storms and my siblings noted much hotter weather as well. New homes had air conditioning. We never even had a fan! Big changes!

Has PG&E done anything to mitigate the grass fire problems they were causing?

Any thoughts on when this incessant rain will end? It’s been raining since January basically. I’ve been keeping track! I feel I’m alone in noticing the incessant rain.

Incessant rain? In the Bay Area?

Last night with the bizarre lightning storm was the first rain I have seen since March.

omg CA.. what is going on there? I used to live in the Bay area. Still work with people there. Folks from all over - from SV to Sonoma county - they can smell the smoke; some might get evacuated. I lived in CA for 40 years, and I can't remember hearing/seeing this many lightening strikes.

I've lived in Cali for 40 years -- on and off -- too and I never remember smoke in my childhood on the east bay (Hayward). Now there is smoke everywhere and the air quality is terrible. There are 600 fires right now. There is not a fire at all where I am - still in the same area -- but I keep hearing of people losing homes, losing everything, and no insurance because they already had a fire and insurance already covered them once. Well DO NOT REBUILD IN THE SAME PLACE. Args. And so they all have their hands out again begging.

I just hope this devastation encourages people to live the overpopulated Ca and move to states with a much lower COL where the dollar travels farther. They could live in mansions with huge areas of land without any fire risk and with a lot more job opps and a lot less covid-19 risk. It doesn't make sense for people to live here if the air quality and everything else is awful AND they don't have a home, clothes, food, money etc. I'm here BECAUSE of my home only. You can meet new friends in another state.
