I see from a previous discussion that there are many Long Island transplants in the DMV. Let’s post where you were from, age, and some favorite places, memories, etc. I’ll go first:
-Roslyn -56 -Adventureland in Farmingdale, Jones Beach, Roosevelt Field, Robin Hood Day Camp, Carvel, Andel’s Deli |

West Hempstead, 49
Adventureland was a favorite too. Pt Lookout Beach when it had the rocket slide and full playground Jones Beach Boardwalk and concerts Nassau Coliseum Nunleys Hot Skates roller rink Roosevelt Raceway outdoor flea market The Westbury Drive in movie Just about any Italian or Jewish deli, French, Italian and German bakeries. Fire Island |
| Driving by Perry Como's house in Sands Point which had a golf green in front and watching him chip and putt. Along the way from Port Washington passing the Nike surface-to-air missile battery. |
Ah, I forgot about the flea market. I remember buying pickles out of the barrel from there... |
| Garden City. So happy to have left. Nassau County is a miserable place—a played out, ancient hellscape that ceased being relevant over 40 years ago. So happy to be in nova. |

I had wedding reception at the Garden City Hotel. I would only move back if I had the money to afford a waterfront house. Don’t miss the people or attitude.... |

But they do have some very nice people with good hearts that would take the shirt of their back for you. |
Garden City didn't used to sell real estate to jews. Has that changed yet? |
I always thought of Floral Park as part of Queens (which I know TECHNICALLY is part of LI, but nobody thinks of it that way). |
