I see from a previous discussion that there are many Long Island transplants in the DMV. Let’s post where you were from, age, and some favorite places, memories, etc. I’ll go first:

The Westbury Drive in movie
Just about any Italian or Jewish deli, French, Italian and German bakeries.

Driving by Perry Como's house in Sands Point which had a golf green in front and watching him chip and putt. Along the way from Port Washington passing the Nike surface-to-air missile battery.

Ah, I forgot about the flea market. I remember buying pickles out of the barrel from there...

Garden City. So happy to have left. Nassau County is a miserable place—a played out, ancient hellscape that ceased being relevant over 40 years ago. So happy to be in nova.

I had wedding reception at the Garden City Hotel. I would only move back if I had the money to afford a waterfront house. Don’t miss the people or attitude....

Garden City didn't used to sell real estate to jews. Has that changed yet?

I always thought of Floral Park as part of Queens (which I know TECHNICALLY is part of LI, but nobody thinks of it that way).
