| The Center for Voter Information mailed absentee ballot applications to Va. voters. The return mail addresses may be the wrong locality. I live in Fairfax County and the return address is Fairfax City. I am worried some people might never get their ballot because of this. |
| This is spam, and has nothing to do with a legitimate absentee ballot. Toss it. (I got one as well). |
Same. I tossed it. This is worrisome. |

It’s all over social media. Apparently Fairfax City is planning to properly redirect them to Fairfax County.
What bothered me is that mine came not with my legal name that I am registered to vote with, but the name I use on Facebook, which is basically my “First Maiden Last” names. That’s literally the only place I have my name like that. My legal name is “First Last”, no middle name. So apparently they didn’t use registered voter rolls. Instead it was some other data mining from Big Data. Yuck. |
| Is this actually a well intentioned effort to help people vote? And they just went about it in a really clumsy way? |
Theoretically. It’s this group. They’re supposed to be non-partisan but they lean left. They did include my republican husband on their mailing list, so who knows? Really rubbed me the wrong way though. |
| ^ opps, forgot the article link. https://www.npr.org/2020/02/13/805694260/a-big-vote-registration-push-reaches-millions-but-divides-elections-officials |
I live in City of Fairfax and mine said to return to Fairfax County. I knew it was spam because I hadn’t requested my ballot yet. |
| Yup, my mom was convinced it was from the state until I showed her the return envelope and the fine print. Thankfully she hadn't mailed it yet, so we got online together and found the official online request form. |
Also lean left and am very much in favor of making it easy for people to vote, and this also really rubbed me the wrong way. Faux official mail fools some people and iparticularly this year, it really pisses me off. |
| Never received the ballot I requested weeks ago. NoVA. |
Can you check the status online? |

I got a "Virginia Vote by Mail Application Form" yesterday in Alexandria City from CENTER FOR VOTER INFORMATION (3rd party, and data obtained from publicly available state voter files), pre-fiiled and highlighted in yellow without Party for 11/3/2020.
Please read 'Voter's Statement + Signature #8 AT BOTTOM from this mailing: Section 8 reads: "I swear/affirm, subject to felony penalties for making false statement pursuant to VA Code 24.2. 1016 that 1. the information provided in this form is true 2. I am not requesting a ballot or voting in any other jurisdictions in the US 3. " "I am registered to vote in the City/County where I am applying to vote 4. If I checked box in Section 3 to vote by mail for the calendar year, I will likely likely remain eligible to vote throughout the calendar year. Please note, "Section 3 on left at top is Annual Vote by Mail and it is OPTIONAL to fill: first question is do you want to vote by mail for all elections this year. Problem is, if you mark it yes and move/die primary election ballots will still be sent to address on file. 8. Voter, sign here or mark if unable: ________________________ |
I got this too. It’s not spam. It directs you to request absentee ballot online at vote.elections.virginia.gov, which is a legit site. |

This is what Fairfax County says about these mailings:
