Are your schools in touch about their plans?

I haven't heard anything yet about dates/times/groups/lead teachers and I was curious if others had.

As a teacher my school reached out with what trainings we should do before we go back. Only indication of future plans is that all teachers should be prepared to teach ELA and math.

Our principal emailed a few days ago and said they would be doing some “family surveys” in the coming weeks before finalizing their plans. So I’m expecting everything to be very last minute. I just want the teacher assignment so I can figure out if there is anyone else in the class we can form a pod with.

Your admin should be creating a schedule for each grade level band. Or if they are interested in the people actually having to create this schedule they have asked teachers to form a committee for each grade band ECE, K-2, 3-5, etc. and make a schedule for them.

Not yet but we better get schedules EARLY because my household internet cannot swing four video calls at once. It chokes with two.

Lee Montessori gave families important info already.

Does this actually matter? Don’t all the kids do the same work across the same grade?

NP. No, not necessarily. Plus, every teacher/teaching style is different.

2 options:
1 - upgrade your internet
2 - tell dcps that you do not have reliable internet and they will provide it

Not necessarily. I also want to see who is in her class as I would prefer her to pod with kids on the same zoom schedule.

What kind of broadband are you using? Which video apps? Not handling two calls seems surprising for most residential connections. You might want to do some probing to make sure your wifi is picking up well throughout your house and do a speed test from a device plugged into your access point with a cord. Good luck.
