Two Birds (Tenleytown)

It seems relatively new. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Our almost four year old is there and we are very happy. Administration is extremely organized and communicative, teachers are great and I am happy with their COVID protocols. All meals are included which to me is a huge plus. I really like the app they use to communicate with parents and send updates and photos. I researched a lot of centers pre COVID and thought this one was top notch. Both of the founders’ kids are enrolled so they are highly motivated to get it right. Feel free to ask me any specific questions and I’ll do my best to answer.

Should have mentioned very nicely designed space and appropriate toys and materials.

Wow! If this is not a sock puppet, I don’t know what one is. Sounds like an ad. And then to put another pro to the center immediately after this one says it all.

I can only say that I did meet a parent at our daycare that took her child out of Two Birds previously and DID NOT like it. According to this parent, they were horrible at giving children consistently outdoor time even though this is required by DC regulations. This was BEFORE COVID.

Not a sock puppet, just a happy parent trying to support a daycare that we're very happy with and want to see continue to thrive. Trying to be helpful to other parents who may not have had a chance to tour it pre-Covid. Sorry you are so jaded.

NP. Didn’t think that at all. Sounded like a happy parent sharing an experience.

It’s also been the subject on the DCUM main page for ages.

How does it compare to Broadcasters or Friendship? We are new to DC and have a 6 month old and 21 month old.

We have a 2 year old at Broadcasters (BCDC) and are very happy. They have a playground, which is ready nice for outdoor time. Plus the teachers are very caring, which is our biggest priority. They have openings now.

Has BCDC added a kindergarten classroom, do you know?

We love Two Birds. Do you have any specific questions? The teachers are lovely, meals are provided, I get a discounted CSA share on Tuesdays, my almost 3 yo amazes me with what he’s learned at school.

I've heard good things about two birds but no experience. That said, wanted to share if you're still looking that there's a last minute spot nearby at St. Columba's Nursery School. We have a child there currently and one who "graduated" and I truly can't say enough about it. It's truly wonderful. The teachers are all child whisperers, most of whom have been there for years The playground is amazing, and they spend tons of time outside in almost any weather. It is an unbelievably joyful place, and the director is fabulous. If you're still looking, you might want to check it out.

FWIW, we’ve been VERY happy with Two Birds in Old Town. Honestly, have nothing bad to say about the experience - I feel very grateful to have found it for our DC. (Although it’s definitely expensive at least for the Old Town area.)
