Two Birds (Tenleytown)

Would love to hear more about the Old Town location - we’re thinking of starting there potentially! We’ve been having a lot of trouble with communication in our current location (Nest in Old Town), and the infant teachers seem extremely inexperienced. How have the Two Birds teachers been?

It has come to my attention through a dear friend of mine that multiple staff were found guilty of child abuse with 2 and three year old at the Alexandria location just this May (2025) This is heinous. I recommend you think twice and three times before using this daycare

In response to the above, multiple teachers were not found guilty of child abuse. One teacher was accused by other teachers of abuse, and Two Birds self-reported. That apparently abuse happened is bad enough, although I think Two Birds has handled it about as well as they can so far. But there’s no need to fudge the truth or spread things without knowing facts.

To add to the above, two other teachers were fired for not reporting when they should’ve, but they were not accused of abuse.

Found guilty in court ?

DO NOT take your children to Two Birds if you want them to be safe. The ownership has wildly failed the toddlers in their care who were abused and neglected for months: https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/alexandria/day-care-alexandria-virginia-child-two-birds/65-733413f0-a283-47c9-9c14-c7e047a57d49

This is horrific. How could the other teachers not report? These are not “gray area” offenses. I hope none of them ever work with children again.

That's absolutely horrible!

I’m friends with parents who send their kids here and something about this setup and their self-promotion has always rubbed me the wrong way.

They don’t call themselves a daycare but rather a “school,” they have typical infant rooms but also coworking and a Reggio consultant. The website gives off the vibes of a legit nonprofit preschool but it’s for-profit.

Would clearly be better if they backed off the marketing and focused on fundamentals like their care of duty.

These teachers that were investigated are still trying to work at daycares in the area and as nannies, even after being fired. There’s a Reddit thread with their names; everyone should watch for these people because if a daycare doesn’t do a background check they absolutely can and will be hired somewhere working with children again.

Is this the thread? Names deleted? Imagine hiring one of these people as a nanny

Between this and the arrest at NCRC, how are DC parents supposed to trust any early education programs?

Does anyone know whether there has been any communication from the school about how thet are addressing this and whether any other locations are being investigated?
