| We are at a charter school that had previously announced its intention to host students for a hybrid model. Are other folks at charters anticipating that their schools will follow the DCPS decision for 100% DL? I have a feeling the answer is yes.... |
| Basis just announced DL to Oct 6. |
| Why is in person learning even an option? That sounds dangerous, not innovative. |
|
Lots of charters have already announced their plans and most are virtual for fall, although some are having students with more needs in the building.
There's a list on the PCSB website. |
| DCB also just announced DL to Oct. 6 |
this is OP. I know about the existing announcements. just trying to read the tea leaves about whether any hybrid will actually happen if DCPS is not doing it at all |
I think they will struggle but if they are small, they stand a better chance. |
You're crazy -- THAT is dangerous |
OP DCPS is unlikely to do hybrid until March, the warmer season was our best shot. The experts could be wrong and maybe winter won’t be so bad but everything points to no in person. Also depends on if we can get our presidential leadership to shift to someone who didn’t think the virus was a hoax. |
Virtual goes through the end of Term 1, which is the end of October. |
HAAAAA! "presidential leadership"?!!!! Good one |
The charters typically take their cues from DCPS on things like this so expect most if not all to follow the guidelines announced this morning. |
It's too bad. This is when autonomy and the ability to be creative (e.g., outdoor class) might really matter. |
|
Who is still in person?
Is Perry Street? Truth? Who else was... |
Why are parents so insistent on outdoor classrooms being the answer? Many of our schools don’t have extensive outdoor space. In addition, they need to have indoor space as a backup for weather so outdoor classrooms don’t actually solve anything. |
