10-15 years ago I was sexually assaulted by a boyfriend. I told the police and they pressed charges. I don't know what happened to him, but when I search my maiden name on the case search, it shows up. I feel that victims and especially those of DV or sexual assault should not have it follow them around for years. I've recently moved back to Maryland. How do I get my name removed from the case? Can anyone please help? |
It should have automatically been removed. I was a victim of DV in 2004. I pressed charges, and initially my name showed as the plaintiff. A few years later it was removed. I am guessing the laws changed and the silly state of Maryland realized that a victim's name should have never been listed.
Now, the only way you can search the case is by using the defendants name. However, the plaintiff's information is blank. It was likely an oversight by the silly state. Reach out to have it removed. |
Thank you for responding. This was in 2005. It's listed as "SEX OFFENSE FOURTH DEGREE" and "ASSAULT-SEC DEGREE". I can't believe it shows up. Who can I ask about this? I don't want to have to hire a lawyer. |
The Maryland case database is ridiculous. No way in the world should so much information be listed. My sister's entire divorce down to the amount she receives in child support is on display for the world. |
Thank you so much , that led me to a phone number. The guy who answered gave me the phone number for Victim Services in PG County. Hopefully that person will help me. |
100%, if it has to exist, then it shouldn't be looking back 20+ years. 5 years should be max. |
OP here. They have told me there is nothing I can do to get my name removed. The guy who assaulted me can have the record expunged but I myself can not get my name removed. Insane. Thanks for protecting victims maryland. |
That is 100% not true. My name does not show on the database search from my assault. Additionally, I didn't have to do anything to have my name not included--it was automatic. I would suggest you continue to check around until you find someone who isn't stupid to remove it. |
Call the court and ask for the process of getting removed. Almost everything including tickets that go to court go on there so I'd rather pay the violation even if it wasn't my fault. |
OP, do this:
If you believe information provided is inaccurate, please send written notice to the court where the original record was created or filed. For courthouse locations and contact information, see: http://mdcourts.gov/courtsdirectory/index.html |
You’re just making this up. Case search doesn’t show the amount of child support. I defy anyone to provide a link to any case on maryland case search that shows the amount of child support. |
I'm not the PP and I know of a Prince Georges County child support case with the amount of child support posted. I won't give the case to protect the parties. MD case search does list amounts in some cases. I have not seen the amount posted for Montgomery County. |
I've seen hundreds of divorce cases on case search and never once seen a dollar amount associated with any case. |
I think it's by county also. Charles County does not post the information, but PG does. Unsure about other areas in the state. |
