Can you freeze clams?

Anonymous
I ended up with a double order of fresh, live clams (Cherrystone), and don't think I can use them all today/tomorrow. Mixed guidance on freezing them online. Some say freeze in water, others say just put them in a bag with little air (I have a Food Saver vacuum sealer so that's an option), others seem to think you can only freeze them after shucking.

Any advice or personal experience? Thanks!

Make sauce and freeze.

Yes, absolutely.

They are sold frozen at all grocery stores.

Commercial freezing is different than home. For clams, I would not risk it.

I would cook and dice them and use for chowder (though cherry stones aren't the best for chowder).
