There’s some truth to this. DCU has prioritized bringing in “bigger” players, a strategy driven by Academy leadership in hopes of competing with other MLS clubs like RBNY and Union, who have been embrassining them on and off the field. However, we all see how that’s playing out. The academy is full of talent that is being misused

Correct. The size and speed game is the easiest for DCU because they don't have to teach anyone anything to get that right. Either you have it or you don't. The problem is the other academies play that game, plus teach the kids how to play AND have a better system for identifying talent and larger talent pools to pull from in their metro areas. So they have bigger and faster kids that they teach how to play. Why the results against DCU are usually very convincing. Like has been posted before, as the kids get older the early bloomers fade because everyone is big and strong. Then they have to rely on actual footballing skills and IQ. Something DCU doesn't teach. And like the PP said, you're seeing how that plays out on the field.

There are more above average sized kids on ALL DCU teams than there are below average sized kids or average sized kids. Out of a roster of 22 more than half are usually above average in size. No team at DCU has a roster of majority below average sized kids. I have seen them all with my own eyes. You're flat out lying to yourself if you think anything differently.
Anonymous
If DCU recruited majority smaller kids and actually had to teach them how to move the ball to be successful, they would get literally demolished by the other MLS academies. This is the point of the PP who said the academy leadership made a decision to skew toward bigger kids so they don't absolutely embarrass themselves against the better regional MLS academies. Which, even with the bigger kids they are still doing.
Anonymous
Go watch DCU teams on YouTube when their games are posted and see for yourself if you can't go and watch them in person. You will see the size bias very easily. Of course there are some smaller kids here and there. But majority are bigger and more physically developed.
Anonymous
And some of this size and physicality bias has to do with the product the MLS produces. Just remember that the MLS owns these academies end of day and the overall mission is to bring players to their league. The MLS product is a size and physicality product and a lot of the MLS academies in the US lean toward bigger kids because of this. The national team does as well. MLS games aren't these beautiful football games where great football is being displayed. It is more like American football where aggression, physicality and brute force are rewarded. It is emblematic of our weak footballing culture in the country. DCU is really no different on the size bias. But what is different is DCU just relies on that, whereas the other academies are teaching the kids how to play as opposed to how to run hard and use strength to win.

Delco for the win.

you are correct, non Flex match DCU will use 2011 to develop and sit 2010 bench, DS told me not suiting up.

🤣🤣
Which professional academy suits up everyone for every game?
Not the MLS Next teams and ECNL teams suit up everyone for every game.

You have no clue about the academy world, just by this statement. Barring injuries, everyone gets suited up. You think academies overload their roster like a MLS Next or ECNL team?

ALL academies have more than 18 players per squad.
More than 18 can't suit up for games.

Therefore, all can't play every game Shirley

Yea and a few play up. Hence, everyone getting suited up dummy. Does DCU not do this?

The bottom line is that everyone doesn't get rostered for every game. Even when players are not playing up.

Wrong. I don't know about DCU and how they run things, but not at the academy DS is at. So your question about "which professional academy suits everyone up" was wrong.

Explain slowly to everyone how the U15's at NYRB has 24 players and all play in a game when the MLS Next roster limit for a game is 18?
Take your time

Does NYRB and Philly Union only have small players?
Who are the big kids on youtube and their social media posts? Coaches?

Every MLS Club Academy team I've seen live or in photographs have some physically advanced players along with average on age a few smaller than average.
This stuff about DC is nonsense.

Bethesda uses 3 biobanded kids on every team and none are physical late developers.
I've never seen Bethesda vs DCU and DC wins the size battle.

It seems every parent of an average size or small kid who can't make a team has a prepackaged go-to gripe that the team only chooses big players.

If someone puts up a reward of $1,000,000 to produce a MLS Next team or MLS Club Academy team with all average or small players, it will go unclaimed.
None exist.

Do you people actually read the posts? We all said DCU has big kids, but so do the rest of the academies. Why on earth you get offended at that I have no idea.

You have about 18 u15s and the rest are u14s. Couple u15s play up. Hence, all the u15s suit up and play barring any injuries. NYRB probably the same. I would write this in crayon for you if I could.

So how does everyone play on game-day?
That's the question

Once there are more than 18 on any squad, regardless of playing up or on-age, how does everyone play when 18 is the hard limit?

Some people actually believe if you use a lot of words and repackage the nonsense you said before, it will fool people 🤣

Why is it constantly being mentioned?
Every club and team in MLS Next and I'd assume ECNL has "big kids"
