ECNL forcing Brave & Union Partnership

Anonymous
What is going to happen to the 06/07 age group? Those kids are definitely getting shortchanged in the process. With already huge rosters, we are going to have 50+ kids fighting for a chance to be on the team. But those teams are going to be so large that it won't make sense. It's their final year playing soccer; it's supposed to be the last hurrah before college, and they were all looking forward to that last year playing with their friends. Now, not only have their odds of making the team been slashed in half, but they also don't really have any alternatives. Other clubs are not going to risk their reputation and connections with families by cutting kids from that age group. Brave and Union players have to face the fact that next year, many won't be playing ECNL, and most of their friends will be gone anyway.

And last but not least, based on the last game between Brave and Union, let's just say that building team chemistry is going to be quite a challenge.

That’s “FVU”

I know you are disappointed because now you can’t make fun of FVU. It’s FXU, check the new logo.

C'mon it's forever McBrave, low budget fast food knock-off. Ya get it? Also, Union girls arent good enouh for Arlington see previous posts, Arlington moms are sharpening their pens and preparing their summer homes for team auctions

Arlington is the weakest club on the girls side of all the NoVA ECNL teams. They only have one good team on the girls side (the 2011s). So there is plenty of space for stronger Union and Brave girls to displace current team members (if results of ID sessions are based on talent and not loyalty). Here are the ECNL Mid-Atlantic rankings for Arlington teams:

2007s - 5th place
2008s - 10th place
2009s - 9th place
2010s - 7th place
2011s - 1st place

But beware Union or Brave girls before heading to Arlington - they lack a college recruiting infrastructure and with the low rankings of most of their teams it'll be hard to get yourself in front of college coaches.

Say the top 2-4 girls from Union and Brave teams find spots somewhere else because they’re easily good enough to be picked up by another team. They take the spots of “weaker” players at other clubs because their parents are sick of all the merger BS. (Did MYS learn nothing from the failed SYC partnership?) That does not leave strong teams at FXU.

Please stop trying to make "fetch" happen. It's not nearly as funny as you think it is.

Wow so Arlington is the worst ECNL club on girls side? They sure do act like they are the best! No wonder they try to recruit everyone players since they can’t develop! Their ECNL coaching slate is probably the worst in the dmv.

The 2007s are in 5th. What is wrong with you people. Don’t answer.

Not according to the ECNL website; it lists them in 10th place.

The 2005s/06s are in 5th place. The 2007s are in 10th place. The 2005/6s are seniors headed out the door for the most part.

Coaches will be joining other clubs too most likely. This isn't going to be just a player shuffle.

All the Arlington boy coaches at a few years ago went to DC stoddert or whatever the name of that ...

I can't even keep track of club names anymore. There have been so many mergers and collapses--leagues, teams and clubs since my oldest started playing in 2010.

Will affected Union or Brave players consider the GA teams at FCV or VRSC? With FCV’s top players likely leaving for ECNL programs, the new coaching staff at FCV and the former FCV coaching staff now at VRSC desperately need talent.
