You mean democrats don't like to be canceled?

Funny, and all this time I've been thinking they take pleasure in canceling others.

How does it feel?

I find this incredibly amusing. Of course it's not serious and is just being used to make a point. And oh, what a point! No doubt it's gone right over Democrats' heads.

Except he is being serious. That isn't making a point, it is budding authoritarianism. You are acting like the Germans in 1933 and are pefrectly happy to let it happen.

DeSantis is very dangerous. He is actually dismantling democracy in Florida - and no, that isn't hyperbolic. His redistricting map, removing the Hillsborough state attorney (who was elected!), removing school board members, forcing bloggers to register with the state if they write about elected officials - it's bad. It's so bad that it's hard even to know what to do to protest. And to think that back when he made it legal for drivers to run over protesters we thought that was bad - now that seems like child's play compared to what he's doing now.

It seems especially important to consider the actions of native New Yorkers like Trump and this gentleman..

And yet the right gaslights as institutions of the woke left and coastal elites.

Par for the course.

I bet that pp is the kind of person who likes to have faux emotional breakthroughs. I can picture them tearfully watching Schindler’s List and saying “what kind of people let this happen?” You. You kind of people let this happen and you’re letting it happen again. And since that kind of pp needs things laid out explicitly for them: no, I don’t think the GOP’s fascist end point would end up with anything like the Holocaust with its organization and planning aimed primarily at one group. I think the hatred would be a lot more diffuse and at a lot more groups. Republicans hate a lot more people with a lot more fervor and no one’s safe from their contempt.

NP. I think that’s what a lot of Germans said in 1932. They were wrong because they didn’t think it was possible.

Go woke and go broke is going to be DeSantis' presidential rallying cry.

Coukd Maryland give Disney a Special deal to take over six flags DC area ? It is so run down and depressing now.

Maryland isnt an attractive destination for business.

Disney wont leave Orlando. It is making money hand over fist in Florida. The weather is favorable to a year round theme park-- this would not work in Maryland. They dont deal with snow, they can operate their water rides and outdoor hotel pools year round. They are in a tax, business, and employment environment that is highly favorable. Maryland could never.

Just the weather aspect is massive. I live 6 hours north of Orlando and yet I used my outdoor pool every day in February of this year. Disney's entire schtick is being an outdoor theme park and resort. They are in a location that would be hard to top anywhere else.

And come on. Disney is light years ahead of a PG county 6 flags.

Couldn’t they take it on as a satellite summer park? Would be useful for them to have DMV presence.

Yes six flags is depressing - the point would be for Disney to transform it .

That's a very long way from boycotting Florida.

It’s also a long way from staying out of politics.

I agree with all this but also note that a few decades ago disney was actually planning on building a theme park in Virginia. People pitched a fit and they backed off. And many of their rides are increasingly indoor. VR rides that can be done pretty much anywhere. So this whole thing probably is making disney wonder whether they shouldn’t start diversifying out of Florida a bit.
I do really hope disney has something up their sleeves for desantis. Right now I think they might just be a waiting for him to really overstep and hand them a good first amendment suit. I’m not sure what else they can do.

Disney knows DeSantis will only be around for a few more years. It would take many years and billions of dollars to build anything close to what they have in Florida.

If Disney wanted to, they could bury this clown forever. The propaganda opportunities are insane. I kind of wish they would take care of him for the rest of us.

Oh no they didn’t! What will DeSantis do? I think he will deploy the national guard and shoot anyone with visits the park.
