$7/gallon gas is coming

Wonder if PP has a 401k invested in oil stocks? Perhaps that gouging is helping maintain his/her retirement...

Last time oil was $96 a barrel, gas was $3.62 a gallon.

Now it’s $4.31.

But ya, let's be mad at Biden.

Gee, you’re so brilliant. Why didn’t everyone else think of this!

Take it up with the goobers who live in 4000 sq foot houses hours from their work, to which they insist on driving an SUV or a truck with crap gas mileage. You Republicans are always blabbing about “personal responsibility,” so why don’t you insist people take some when it comes to egregious fuel use?

I’ll be sure to pass on your wisdom to my kids’ daycare teachers, so they can sell their McMansions and Suburbans right away.

ALL of my kids daycare teachers take the metro to work.

That’s an even more intelligent solution. It costs me more to take Metro to work than drive.

No way unless you get subsidized parking. But then the same money could also subsidize your metro fare.

Who’s getting free metro fare and parking? My company certainly doesn’t reimburse. It costs me $15 to take the train and park at Metro everyday. Parking at work is $30 per month. No-brainer.

Where are you parking for $30/month?

Where are you parking for $30/month?

Employee garage at my workplace.

Yes, but we don’t get free Metro fares or metro parking. So it is still significantly cheaper for me to drive even counting in gas costs and vehicle maintenance.

DP... But it is not cheaper overall. Your employer is subsidizing a big part of your commute cost (parking).

It is cheaper to me. My spouse takes Metro because his employer offers transit benefits and it’s cheaper for him than driving. What’s the argument?

But ya, let's be mad at Biden.

It’s the same price gouging that businesses have been doing for months.

They’ll be using Covid as an excuse for the next 20 years.

Right, but like the inflation thread and the economy thread, people need to understand, this isn't inflation, it is price guauging being weaponized to make people think this administration is losing control of the economy.

Prove there is price gouging. That is illegal and if there is evidence prove it.

Do you understand how this works? Gas stations purchase gas in advance. They pay the market price. By the time they get the gas delivered and ready for customers, they charge according to the price they pay for the gas. So, if it was purchased and paid a week ago, the price at the pump will reflect what THEY paid for the gas.

So, in summation - just because a barrel drops in price today, don't expect to see prices at the pump drop tomorrow. They are charging according to what THEY paid when they purchased the gas.

This is part of the equation. The other part is what the guy down the street is doing. They all have a vested interest in tracking each other’s prices very closely.
