Congrats! A beautiful campus, too. People were so genuine during our visit, it really impressed us!

lol. They don't enough meds for all the crazies here.

Keep trying to rain on our parade, you won’t succeed. Clearly this thread stands out and in contrast with so much vitriol that goes on in DCUM. We’re here to celebrate kids’ accomplishments and parents’ efforts that helped get them there. So, go start your own thread of negativity, good bye!

*facepalm* I was responding to the PP who is jealous and bashing Stanford. Read slowly (SLOWLY) from the top down.

Congratulations! How did they come to be interested in McGill? Just curious as I don’t know anything about it other than it’s in Canada.

DC is casting a wide net. Applied to schools in CA, TX, and several in the Midwest. Criteria were good schools with urban campuses in desirable cities outside the Mid Atlantic and the South. We've visited Montreal before and loved it. We've heard good things about McGill from acquaintances. Not sure this is where DC will end up but it's nice to have this option.

Having to make a similiar choice. Why Tech over Pitt?

VA Tech is ED (binding) not EA.

My DS is also interested in St. Joe's. Can I ask your child's stats and what was the award amount? Congrats!

Thank you

Award amount 28k a year
DD
1500 SAT
4.4 weighted
4 Year varsity sport
A few ECs nothing standout
DC private not a big 3

Cross country wasn’t cancelled at my son’s school. They had a condensed season but he earned a letter (not the PP though).

Whih sport didn't have a season cancelled?

Because Tech ED is the only decision out and it’s binding. Their EA comes in February. So at this point it’s not really a choice.

IMHO it's the top school in Canada. Great town, great environment.

That’s wonderful. Congratulations again.

McGill is a FANTASTIC school, congratulations!

Why NOT Tech over Pitt? I do not get this obsession with Pitt.

They have an awful, overbearing administration.

Congratulations! Grinnell admits/applicants, would you mind sharing your stats? We never made it out there but it's on the RD list for my kid. It seems like a gem of a school.

DP, but fwiw - a friend of mine's son is looking to transfer out after his first year. The small student body and small community it's in just weren't for his kid. Also, I guess they trend more conservative and the student body I guess leans left. Clearly those are "different strokes for different folks" characteristics. They could be big selling points for other students.

This has been a positive thread. Why ruin it with negativity?

Guess I shouldn’t ask questions about Christopher Newport…but lots of folks are clearly excited…

There is a difference between asking for feedback on a school and talking about some kid who is transferring right after multiple people have said that their kids have been accepted somewhere early decision.

There is a recent Christopher Newport thread if you search.

The transferring kid was about Grinnell, not CNU.
