Looking for info on various Bethesda/CC/etc neighborhoods

These neighborhoods include Ashburton or Wyngate where the houses are smaller and closer together. These neighborhoods have sidewalks which is really nice. They are near NIH so you get a lot of scientist families who are much for normal than the lobbyists.

North Bethesda and Kensington are also great places to live and there are more regular people there and less pressure. Also check out Garrett Park.

Really the same people.

Is "luxury car market" literal here or some kind of euphemism?

We live in close-in Bethesda just over the DC line and our neighborhood of $1-2M homes is all Honda/Toyota/Subaru, plenty of old ones too.

Ditto for our neighborhood in Potomac. I think the woke in east county have this fantasy of W school neighborhoods they've created I'm their minds. I'm sure there are pockets of gaudy, "Real Housewives" neighborhoods. But that's not the norm.

Depends where in Potomac. If you are near Churchill, Beverly Farms or those neighborhoods they look very plain Jane regular homes with regular people. If you go to Avenel or some parts near Potomac Village not so much.

Thank you! And thanks to the other posters who gave specific examples of schools above.

Any thoughts on Bethesda Elementary or any other schools/neighborhoods?

No to Bethesda Elementary.

No to Bethesda Elementary.

Why?

The original car issue was raised by OP, who lives in NW DC, and was clearly using it as shorthand for other issues. But DCUM never passes up a chance to take a swipe at East county.

Not really. Someone from easy county asked for it. OP posted "We are looking to move to Bethesda/Chevy Chase from upper NW DC" and right on cue, someone from East county with no impulse control asked " Why not Silver Spring)Takoma Park?"

But making that suggestion isn’t taking a gratuitous and snotty swipe at Bethesda and Potomac. It fits with OP’s reluctance to avoid areas like NW DC. It seems the mere mention of TP/SS is justification enough for being obnoxious.

No, they simply asked "Have you considered Silver Spring/Takoma Park?" Which seems like a pertinent question to ask when someone has said "We’d really like a diverse neighborhood, with down to earth people who aren’t competitive and who value community and inclusivity."

Yet they didn't include those areas in their request. This should have been a clue that they either know about the high violent crime rate in east county or the high number of woke lunatics or perhaps both.

Not super diverse but Mohican Hills/Glen Echo Heights is down to earth.

Wrong yet again. The OP replied that they had considered SS/TP and thought they were lovely areas, but had been told, incorrectly, that there were not options there for her child's special needs.

I'm sure the weekly murders over there have nothing to do with it.

Is North Bethesda just a fancy term for Rockville?

Qualities which are in short supply in West county evidently.

OK. OK. Bi-weekly murders. Is that better?
