Homelessness in DC- has it gotten worse?

Though I am not sure why they are not doing more to move people off the streets now. It's almost like its a symbiotic relationship or something, hmmmm.

More people means more poverty, illness, criminality, and anti-social behavior.

COVID was a test to see if we would self-regulate population ills. We failed. I guess we need a full-on bubonic plague or environmental disaster to cull the human population by a quarter or more. Things are going to get worse before they get better because of cowardice in leadership to make the hard decisions to clean up the streets.

Some solutions:

mandatory hospitalizations for the mentally ill
mandatory overnights in shelters
stipends to families to "house" adult relatives

America appears to be printing cash, DC has a surplus, but we have folks in parks and a whole social services "net" built around abetting their right to live there. I am actually AGAINST providing more port-a-potties because I think it is normalizing these camp outs. Let's house these homeless, and then look at nice, self-cleaning public bathrooms for all.
