Double masking does not always work or make sense. Half the kids I see walking to school have those flimsy cotton masks that are falling below their nose. Their parents cannot be that clueless, they must not care or be anti-maskers. Our kids wear masks with built in filters or the KN94, which are not to be used for double masking. |
You need to talk to lawyer lady about ableism. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they are "mentally ill" or "need help." You are not a great spokesperson to your cause, or to the discourse. |
There’s a couple of crazies (really one main nut in general) who we either ignore or tell to shut up BC most of us are not anti mask |

New poster here but APS schools where we live have kids in person only two days a week, and even doing that only about 50% of students are hybrid. The rest are still full time DL. If you put 95% of all students in school 5 days a week, you are nearly doubling the student population compared with now, so the classes are more crowded, students are closer together, diseases spread as easily as they did pre-COVID UNLESS kids wear masks, wash hands, HVACs have filters, etc. It wouldn't be the worst thing if society as a whole becomes more hygenic and we don't have colds running rampant through schools like they always do. But that is beside the point. The point is more kids in school = disease will spread more easily UNLESS precautions are taken. |
Anyone watch the SB meeting last night? I’m so confused by what Tannia talento is trying to advocate for. She says she’s helping a kid with virtual school providing full support (um okay you realize not every kid has that support), and then says we shouldn’t add more days because it would be giving into to just a few at the detriment of most. Is she serious? Does she think it’s just a few families that want more days this spring? Does she realize that Cardona is calling for more days NOW because the equity gap widens more and more every day kids can’t got to school? And there was another speaker that said all families deserve a choice....while advocating to not have more days of in-person school and in the same breath saying DL is working for her family. These people are so out of touch. Does anyone call them out on this BS? |
+100 APS was counting on a new long-term virtual program solving their capacity problems. They hired an administrator for virtual. I'm sure they were very unhappy to see that few families selected virtual at all, and especially not because it's their preferred learning model. APS is probably trying to figure out how they can extend this and push more people into virtual going forward. What happens when we get to the end of next school year and almost everyone has opted back to in person schooling? |
I would assume some combination of transmissions metrics and % vaccinated. If they don’t flat out just require the vaccine as many colleges are doing. |
My cause is calling out the ridiculous parents. Seriously, get help. |
NP - but you use name calling and personal attacks. It's uncalled for. I'm not involved with APE or SR, but the SR people on AEM seem to shout every one else down and get unnecessarily nasty. Just because most parents don't comment on that forum, you should not assume the majority agrees with you on everything. And I support masks and testing and can't wait to get my kids vaccinated. |

I wonder what impact this has all had in the lice removal experts. Fewer cases I’d guess. |
100% this. People don’t comment because they don’t want to be attacked. It’s an echo chamber. |
I’m not with APE or SR either. I rarely go on AEM. I detest some of the key players there too. I’m just done with the ridiculous parents who relentlessly complain about everything (open schools, teachers suck, 5 days, no masks, etc). Something is wrong with them. Who knows - maybe they are just straight up a-holes, but it seems deeper than that. |
