Loudoun 07G ECNL vs TSJ FC VIRGINIA 07 GIRLS ACADEMY - Jefferson Cup - debate settled?

Anonymous
It was impressive that two teams from the same town were in the final of top Jeff Cup bracket. When you consider that VDA 07 has played competitively against Loudoun and so has McLean and Arlington, I think it disputes all this talk about Nova’s elite soccer talent being diluted with too many teams. These teams will all have hotly contested, competitive, local league games for years to come. It will be great, driving only 30 minutes or less to test how well your team is developing in local derbies. Can’t wait to see Loudoun vs FCV in the league. Oh wait...

Nobody posting in this thread played 1 minute of that game. Stop treating your DDs like they are in a dog show. Please list the rosters and lets hold on to them and check back in 6-8 years. Then we will see who really had the great players that are now playing the game at the highest level. Right now it is simply girls youth soccer that nobody besides under achieving parent athletes puts that much worth in. Lets talk about who is the best when they win a World Cup. Until then take it for what it is LOCAL GIRLS YOUTH SOCCER NOTHING MORE. The most any of the girls will take from this will be to say "I played against her when I was 13" not even played with but against. Enjoy the games but understand you dont have the top girls playing only the local.

You could say that in overtime Loudoun got a shot off that went in. Athletes understand that doesn’t really mean that the winning team is the better team. Their timing worked out and they won. This thread should talking about great both teams performed this weekend.

Except that Loudoun has always beaten this FCV team. This is not just a simple one off. This has never been a even series. This was simply the closest that FCV has come to not losing, but the Finals requires a winner. FCV lost and now sit winless in this head to head matchup over several years.

I think what you are saying then is that Loudoun is losing their dominance then?

Loudoun secured its dominance by displaying an ability to beat FCV in any number of ways. They have blown them out, managed them and then they found a way to win a tight game. And they have done it pretty much with the same roster. How many unicorns has FCV added to their squad only to still lose.

Remember, this was the year that FCV magic was supposed to take over and yet they couldn’t even muster a single goal even into overtime.

So how is not relinquishing a goal to FCV through OT “losing their dominance”?

There was one guest player who is actually joining FCV...I am good friends with parents from both teams. I am also outside the box...

FCV controlled 80% of the game but did not score.

Being outside the box, I can tell you both teams have obnoxious parents as is obvious here.

Sure, Loudoun has won all of the contests up to this point but FCV has obviously improved over the years with much less of a talent pool to pull from.

On the other hand, Loudoun is in the better league playing against better competition.

FCV will not lose players and actually will gain some. None of the will be leaving Loudoun.

Look, this race has tightened over the years and is now a toss up. I honestly don't think Loudoun should be bragging.

It's common sense.

Loudoun is 4-0... dominance secured. FCV guest players made it close, but result the same. This was a bigger game than before being the top bracket in the top tournament. Plain and simple, GA rising.

They had no guest players.

They asked 2 girls who have been playing with the 06s to drop back down only to play in this tournament. I cannot fault them for fielding their best possible 07 team, but other clubs with play ups did not do the same. It did not matter in the end, ‘cause FCV’s best cannot, and have never, beat Loudoun 07.

I think the parents are rethinking that move now.

Your club has never offered grace in victory and you deserve none now in defeat from the overall community. You mock, you brag, and you belittle and now when you fall short you play the humble, “they are just kids card”?

People have said that for years and you laughed it off as a losers excuse. Well you might be right about that.

imagine if FCV did win. I would think it’s like imaging you hit the lottery.

Why would anyone move to a GA team, whose only competitive games are the occasional tournament and a handful of scrimmages against ECNL teams?

Enjoy the 13 year olds rivalry for now. In a few years 2-3 will get knocked up, a couple in rehab, and a few will choose to spend more time with their boyfriends or girlfriends dating. The chances are greater that it will be some of the overbearing parents who post on this boards kids. Over the ones who simply let their girls live their own soccer career.

Who has more college connections than any Coach in the entire DMV? Bobby P. and Clyde W. and it's not even close. What is Loudoun's track record for top level D1 schools? Oh yeah, not much of one. When we go to Champions League and win, on top of showcases, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which club will have better college placement.

The race is over. There no meddles won in showcases. There are no finals in showcases.

Great point. No overbearing parents at FCV. Only at Loudoun.

Because McLean and FCV were the only ECNL teams back then. That’s why. To pretend otherwise is dishonest salesmanship. But I guess when you got nothing else to sell to parents . . .
