FCPS has not posted any documents yet. Is the virtual option that has the full backing of principals and the teachers associations asynchronous learning (watching recordings) with maybe some kind of check-in with a teacher? (YouTube recording of April 20 RTS Meeting; Dr. Presidio beginning at 31:10 - 33:44) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t_BFNxIXEw |
Absolutely not. Basically it will be a separate virtual school run by FCPS. Students will not be part of their base school. And admission will be really difficult and require medical documentation. This is what the principal and teacher associations support. FCPS never posts board docs until either the night before or the day of an evening meeting. |
But they've never really said admissions will be difficult, they just said that they'll require medical documentation. So if a doctor writes a note for a fourth grade student saying that they have anxiety and because there's no vaccination at an elementary level that the student should take virtual, do we really think FCPS will say no? |
They have to be careful how they position this to avoid going down a "student ADA" rabbit hole that causes staffing/logistics issues. But as long at the guiding principle is that this is a separate track that won't hamstring or interfere with in-person, they'll just have to figure it out. |
