Agreed. I love big cities and small towns, but suburbs? Ugh.

Same! I have never lived in a suburb. They scare me. Too many white "patriotic" people + I am white.

Huh. Don't get out much do you? My suburb is one of the most diverse communities in the US, ahead of NYC. But you keep shaking in your boots over there in your city!

Chicago has some truly great burbs. I also nominate Glenview.

Basically this. i was going to sat Winnetka. Nicest suburbs in the entire country.

+1. I went to Northwestern University and the first time I saw Winnetka, I thought it was the most amazing suburb I had ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous. My home town had old cookie cutter suburbs - drab and rundown.

It's just a very antiquated way of thinking. Gentrification kicks a whole bunch of people out of their neighborhoods into.... Where hmmm, where might people without the money to live in exceedingly expensive core cities live...I'm thinking, I'm thinking.

I guess I like water

Jamestown RI is nice

Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA is a very unique and beautiful place. It's like fairytale land for super rich people. Can we just admire their homes and buildings for a second:

And the beautiful, wild seashore and waves, the amazing trees and wild succulents growing...AMAZING. A very famous architect desiged these fairytale like cottages. His wife had a shop that sold dolls.

Hollywood Hills. There's a reason Bob Seger wrote a song about that place (although he was probably envisioning farther up, above where the houses end).
