Their u13s were in the correct age group.

One u12 team played u12 and the other played u13. But the u12 team in u12 was in a lower bracket than the u11s? Who set this all up??

U16 DORADUS SDOR 05 ELITE (VA) cheated their way to the finals today by having at least 3 DCUnited rostered players on their team. It may not be Doradus policy but it sure is DCUnited’s policy current rostered players can’t train or play with other teams.

There have been players back and forth between DCU and SDOR for a long time. They won Disney. Personally, I prefer my kid getting a chance to play against better players than winning a plastic medal or trophy.

That’s great, but it’s against the rules.

They should be disqualified and banned in the future.

They should be disqualified from OBGC because DC United has (or maybe had) a policy against it? DA had rules/policies against it; maybe DC United dropped it? It’s not like anyone has been trying to hide the fact that these players have been rostered with Dorados. I’m not affiliated with them in anyway, but I guess sorry they took apart your kid’s ECNL team.

Teams do this foreal In youth soccer?

It’s no secret SDOR club is a feeder organization for DCUnited. The rules broken are from a DCUnited perspective. If players are rostered for DCUnited players can’t play with any other clubs. SDOR clearly felt they would not do good in the tournament if they didn’t bring additional help as they lost Friday’s 1st game and the players in question had DCUnited training on Friday.

They did not break any of the tournament rules.

This is more a result of US Soccer's/MLS's/DCU's ineptitude in developing a youth program than it is nefarious intent on the part of Doradus.

Basically, DCU's U16s are in no-man's land. They want to continue to train at DCU but (most) can't fight their way into a starting lineup with a roster of 40 kids on the U16/U17 books. As recently as last year, the DA's U16 teams would spend a year in EDP--except for the few who could get game time at the U17 level. That was sensible, but not sure whether it will continue this year.

So these U16s are going out and looking for clubs who are willing to give them significant game time without them actually having to train regularly with the team. I don't know to what extent DCU is arranging these awkward relationships, but you can bet that they approve of them.

The only people who really have grounds to be upset are the kids (and parents of kids) at Doradus and other clubs where they work their asses off and pay the club and coach only to have game time snaked by DCU because DCU doesn't want to go out of its way to actually ensure that its academy members are afforded sufficient game time to develop.

I see the barca academy posters are out in full force again. Instead of complaining about DCU, how did barca do in OBGC, aka the topic at hand?

Dear Stupid:

The "B" in OBGC does not stand for "Barca." Is Barca even mentioned in this thread?

My kids are both playing in OBGC...I may be the next angry “Karen” video trending this weekend if douchebags do this.

One of the girls' clubs that won their age group posted their "victory video" on Facebook showing all the girls in a giant, unmasked cluster hugging and high-fiving. I get that it's exciting to win in PKs but that is not exactly the best endorsement for the club's safety practices...
