Our HS student came to us yesterday saying a friend had texted and could they hang out. Just one friend!
Before I could say a word, my husband the Ph.D. biologist said NO. He called this pandemic a month ago, saying the schools will close in a few weeks (they did), we need to load up on supplies to last a few months (we did), and the schools are done for the rest of the year and possibly into the fall (we'll see, but he's been right so far). |
This smacks the DCUM liberal where she lives! Privilege is the ability to socially isolate. Doing it for your fellow citizens is a liberal action. |
God help you. DC is so behind the current data. |
Agree completely. |
+2 Why can’t people understand this? More importantly, why don’t they care? |
This. |
Sorry, not living like the Bubble Boy. Look at what is actually happening and you will see that there is zero need for that. |
Stop being an idiot. You’re making excuses for yourself. There is not one expert in the country who thinks that your teen/tween seeing friends is a good idea. End of discussion. |
OMG. My friend’s 45-year-old, healthy husband may have permanent lung damage. |

Exercise is known to boost the immune system - go out and ride your bike, take a walk, get yard work done. Hanging out with friends increases happiness and is a good way to bring down stress levels Laughter is the best medicine Panic/stress/anxiety/depression/inactivity actually ARE dangerous. If you thrive staying alone at home, do it. But don't scold the people who get together in small groups. |
Lots of DCUM parents of teens have lost control or are afraid to spend time with their kids. Letting them see friends is easy. Sad but so true. |
Even the damned experts are getting together in not so small groups. Why aren't they teleconferencing from their own isolation tanks? Nancy Pelosi is turning 80 in a few days and she is not maintaining any illusion of social distance. |
You are rationalizing to absurd lengths, PP! It’s honestly laughable! Do you seriously believe that your happiness-immunity is going to stop you from spreading the virus to other people?! It won’t. Get outside but stay away from other people and learn to laugh with your family. |
They are essential personnel. Your teen is NOT. |
