Don't left out Albert Gore III as a graduate from Sidwell. He was kicked out from St. Albans in eighth grade amid a flurry of pot rumors, and was picked up by Sidwell Friends the second day. |
"picked up" More like, they already has secret service there for Chelsea, so where else was he going to go? |
St Andrew didn't "pick up" him! |
Yes - we all know the history of GDS. Glad they stepped up in that era...but c'mon, give it up. Currently, it is not an outlier among other top privates in DC on this regard. They are all reaching out....and I think they all could do more to diversify. For PP - Lincoln joke was funny! |
Awesome! Thanks for pointing this out. |
Hysterical!
|
Just for the record, King George had his kids apply to GDS, but the school rightfully denied them admission, sparking the War of Independence. |
Georgetown Day is named for King George, no? How social justice-oriented of them. |
Np. Where is the floor by floor layout posted? Internet or intranet? Never saw it and I’d like to. Thx. |
It's part of this presentation: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vSHP6L-050ZTM4GpO1as0g4M0SgxLVs0j3sUkyPEYrRKbM0lpzpQjDhNue9IM8IDGDkbzorIDclaWTc/pub?start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000&slide=id.g769a3ec52c_0_335 |
To give credit where credit is due, nearly half the trustees at GDS are people of color. I don't think many schools in DC can say that, although I would be happy in this case to be proven wrong. |
GDS? |
Token trustees, for branding purposes. What % of the student body? |
Good point. Time for a new, non-offensive name. |
Almost half is pretty much the opposite of tokenism. The website says that 40% of students identify as students of color. I don't know the breakdown of different ethnicities or how that compares to other schools. |
