Just get a test and let it rest |
OP here and I do not have HIV as it were. Of course now I have anxiety about "what if the guy didn't wait long enough for the second dot to appear" (I got a rapid test at a clinic) but he does this for a living and he said I'm negative so I think the crisis is averted.
Thank you to everyone who responded kindly and gave me some comfort! |
Your anxiety is likely to find a new focus, please seek effective treatment. |
Yes - I am in regular talk therapy but I think I need to find someone who does CBT. T |
Yes this. And no you don’t have HIV. |
Great! Congrats. You definitely don't have HIV, but now that you know you can get it at the gym, just request it once a year to ease your mind (in addition to the therapy). |
*Gyn not gym! |
OP - you should probably speak with someone about your anxiety levels. It seems like you're catastrophizing the situation - and likely many other roadblocks that appear in your life. |
Don’t forget: I predicted that your brain would go here next. You do NOT have to live with this level of anxiety. Treatment helps! |
Treat the anxiety. You already posted this. You are weird. |
cruel and totally unnecessary. |
Omg you're telling her to treat anxiety??? NO ONE IN THIS THREAD SAID THAT AlREADY. Thank you for contributing SO MUCH to this conversation! |
I mean, not to mention the fact that op literally just said "I'm going to start CBT." It's not like she's like "La la la la la, no symptoms but something sinister lurks beneath the surface, this is totally fine!" Obviously she knows she has a problem. Look, the fact that someone with anxiety even got tested is great. Most people with health anxiety just sit there stewing not wanting to know. The fact that she got tested means she wanted to put this to rest and move forward to work on anxiety. |
Reposting this link that a PP posted in case the OP didn't open it. https://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Resources/Looking-After-Yourself/Health-Anxiety
I opened it because I was "just curious." That curiosity has lead to noticeable improvement in my anxiety. (Something I thought was under control, but is so much better in the last couple days. ) OP, you said you're already in talk therapy, but hoping to add CBT or new tools. Check this resource out. This might be the best thing I ever received from dcum. |
