Gonzaga vs. Landon

We commute 45mins one way to Landon and it worth the sacrifice. Summer program is the best in DMV. They have lots of Academic classes. Landon of today is striving harder. They also have bus transportation. I checked admission into college for class of 2020. I was amazed at top colleges the students were able to get it into. The new Landon is very transparent and communicate with the parents. Covid19 test is weekly. Lots of precautions in place to ensure safe learning.

There’s a “new” Landon?

Well, if you say so.

But lots of locals remember the old Landon and might be just a little skeptical about how this leopard might change its spots.

Prep and SJC remain the main competition for Gonzaga.

Landon’s for the 1% who aren’t interested in a Catholic education and environment.

Prep isn't competition. Gonzaga was the it school about 4 years ago, that is changing now.

Take a look at the attached Parish Times. It'll tell you where graduates of a number of Catholic schools are going to high school. Lots and lots of mentions of Prep, Gonzaga and St. John's. Landon mentions are rarer than hen's teeth.

Can anyone comment on what the boys are like at each school? My son has attended both Catholic and secular and the differences in the kids had nothing to do with religion.

Can you please be more specific?

My son attended religious school. He later went to Landon. He said Landon boys were well behaved probably because of character education offered in Landon. The teacher-coach system helps the kids to approach the teacher more easily. Landon boys are very disciplined.

Gonzaga and Landon are soooooo different it’s surprising that anyone applies to both.

One is a Catholic school with a student body that is very Catholic. It’s 1,000 students come largely from Catholic parish schools. It’s in an urban location. It’s teams play in the extremely competitive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.

Landon is much smaller and has a very heterogeneous student body. Many of its students start the school in the 4th grade. It’s deep in the suburbs.

These are two very dissimilar schools with very different student bodies, families and alumni.
