Clicking on the link would have shown you, however, here is the list expanded. DeMatha at 16 vs. Good Counsel at 10 and GZ at 5. Big spread there, so you can't really say they are comparable. Interestingly, the top seven schools are all single sex. https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-catholic-high-schools/m/washington-dc-metro-area/

1. St. Anselms
2. Georgetown Prep
3. Stone Ridge
4. Visitation
5. Gonzaga
6. Heights
7. Oakcrest
8. SJC
9. Bishop O'Connell
10. Good Counsel
11. Holy Cross
12. Bishop Ireton
13. Paul VI
14. St. John Paul the Great
15. Holy Child
16. Dematha
17. Brookwood
18. Elizabeth Seton
19. Bishop McNamara
20. Avalon

Corrected my post above. Should have said top 7 schools are single sex.

So Dematha is one of the best private schools academically in the richest majority African-American counties in the world.

So clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about

Where does DeMatha rank when comparing all Catholic Schools in DMV?

Gonzaga, GC,STJ and Damatha are pretty much all the same except 2 are all boys.

Though Damatha has a better arts program than all of them and STJ has better science since Kinsey poured $$$ into that program.

Oh please. Gonzaga way above these other schools in terms of academics. Look at the college matriculations. No comparison.

No it’s not. They don’t offer better academics they just have more wealth.

The list above looks like average SES not academic offering.

Well generally schools with strong academics attract high SES. Same thing happens with public schools.

Nice try...but truth be told, there is socioeconomic diversity at Gonzaga. That said, there are also the very wealthy. They help fund the tuition of those in need. My son was good friends with a kid from SW DC. The boy came out of Washington Jesuit Academy. I volunteered at the school with his mom. Salt of the earth. Loved Gonzaga.

Of these choices, GZ is the strongest overall and has the most to offer.

Yes my family has been going to Gonzaga since the 30’s. It’s a great school. Saying Damatha is as good is not a knock on GZ. How much experience do you have with Damatha. It’s an amazing school.

It’s nit very Christian to be bashing a school you have no experience with. Are you new to the community?

WJS is awesome and my family is very involved thanks to the immense wealth at GZ they were able to create a great school to educate the athletes that eventually end up at GZ so they stop failing our... it is immensely successful.

But still GZ does not offer better academics than Damatha.

I will admit the extent of my experience with DeMatha is watching the exciting football games. But seriously, DeMatha, while a fine school, is not in the same academic realm as Gonzaga. Just look at the average SAT scores from each of these schools -- GZ 1300 SAT 30 ACT, DeMatha 1170 SAT, 25 ACT. That is a pretty a stark difference and if I were evaluating these two schools, those scores would certainly sway me to prefer GZ for my bright son.

You realize schools pay to get on niche right? It’s a scam.

So, what you are telling me is the academic offerings at a school are dependent on average SAT scores?

Really? Are you actually that obtuse?

What you are actually saying is that GZ is a better school because on average my kids will be friends with more white kids with higher test scores (aka SES level)

If you said, I like GZ better because on average the students are wealthier kids with more tutors and test prep we could agree.

But if you are saying GZ has better classes, better teachers, better science labs... well you would be wholly wrong.

So you judge a school on average SAT scores and football games... pathetic,

It’s okay just say 3 Hail Marys and 2 Our Father’s and you are all good to go.

Nope, I am saying that if a kid comes out of a high school with a higher SAT or ACT, he is likely getting a better education. And that is likely because they have better classes, teachers, science labs, etc. And, well, it's always nice to win football games, but that's not a requirement lol.
