| Let us know how the vet visit goes, Op. |
Thus, the diapers should help with that. I also call BS on the "constant leaking." OP is just looking for someone to say it's ok. It's not. |
| I don’t blame OP for having thoughts of euthanasia. Having an incontinent pet is so stressful. My 20lb dog has a neurological condition which causes her to be incontinent. I’m able to manually express her bladder which cuts down on accidents. She also had bladder issues which we minimize with prescription food. She wears washable diapers kept up by doggy suspenders (thank you Etsy), lays in her crate on disposable pads or stays outside. She’s happy as a clam and now we’ve got her care down as routine - “the new normal.” |
I agree. Unless she seems to be physically in pain all the time, I would not put her down. Just like I would not euthanize a child who had certain health challenges or physical ailments. As a pet owner —> you must love unconditionally to the core. |
Gone to live on a farm is a euphemism for put to sleep. |
| Ok. True story: my SIL had a Mastiff, obviously inbred with numerous physiological problems, included spinal stenosis. By age 3 (life span about 8 years for a large breed) she was in diapers in the house, then by age 5 she had to be carried by harness to poop in the yard. Totally incontinent by age 6. The urine was a slow leak, continuously, which I witnessed on several occasions. The house, car, and even the dog reeked like piss from age 5 until she died at age 8. She lived her full life span, and was incontinent for more than half. This is what to expect. You decide. |
Pointless to make this comparison. One is legal. One is not. |
well you can call your bs all damn day but the dog constantly leaks, even after she urinates out side, it just keeps leaking out, she is 100 percent house broken and would never urinate on purpose in my home but all the same, she is urinating in my home. |
| FREE LAB to all those rescue people out there, please take her before she is put down. I am not a good enough human to love her unconditionally, I can't handle the pee smell, I am OCD about my house being pee free. Maybe it's just me but I feel like that is the norm. I feel terrible that she must leave but the vet told me there is really nothing we can do except put a diaper on her or leave her out side. Both of those options will not work for us. Please let me know who wants her. I will deliver her to you and God bless you for taking her. I am happy there are people like you out there. |
| OP my dog did that. Puddles and buckets. He had incurable liver disease. Your dog has some kind of serious medical problem (no matter what your current vet says this is not normal) Just go ahead and put the dog down. It’s not healthy for you or your children. It does impact the kids as I’m sure your house smells like dog pee. Not nice not sanitary. |
Going to the country is just a euphemism for going to heaven. Country people are not going to keep your dog. |
Sorry for your family’s impending loss, OP. And sorry for all the stupid comments in this thread. |
| OP your vet is not being very helpful. You have other responsibilities than this dog. It’s a dog. With a serious probably incurable medical problem. |
thank you, It's very hard for me because I have kids and they are going to be very upset about loosing their pet. They will be angry with me and I get it but I can not tolerate this! My vet has done all she can do according to her, blood test, pills, more pills, nothing works.

Very disappointed. You need to do better, your disclaimer just isn't going to cut it.
I can't take your dog. I have one very sick and reactive dog and two others who are not sick, but need a lot of attention. Putting a dog to death is not an option, really unless the dog has no quality of life.Find a rescue. Please don't get another dog. |
