Do you think Upper class women use nail polish?

Do whatever you want with your nails. It has nothing to do with class.

+1 to all of this. Plus, I hate the way polish feels. I get that probably sounds weird, and I don't have many sensitivities, but by Day 2 it -- hurts is not the right word, but feels weird.

Very upper class here -my fingers are currently blue and my toes a neon orange my son picked out. Sometimes they’re not polished, sometimes they’re chipped polished, sometimes they’re long and sometimes they’re bitten off.

Still have the same money in the bank and I’m not sure how my nails impact that. If you’re asking if I’d fit into some snooty country club, honestly they’d probably take us bc of connections but no I wouldn’t fit in and have no interest in that. You do you - if you have the confidence in that, you have class

I am 60 and feel that I need to step up my grooming to avoid looking frowsy. A short length gel manicure every two weeks and a once a month pedicure make me feel put together. As your fingers get more sausage-like and sun spots appear, it’s nice to counter-balance with tidy cuticles and lacquer. Bare and buffed are fine when you’re young, but women still need to get their cuticles addressed by a professional- you’re fooling yourself if you think you can do it as well at home. Your nails look rough.

Neat and trimmed. Polish and manicures are the ultimate in middle class striving.

Exactly. I prefer to be able to jump on my horse without worrying about my "gel mani". Even the term "mani"- UGH. So low rent.

As I said the other day, this "high maintenance" stuff is white women shit. I have never ever spent one minute of my day wondering if my grooming practices made other people think I was high maintenance.

Lots of black and Latina women get their nails done. This is definitely not a “white Woman” thing.

And those womens nails tell us exactly how classy a manicure is perceived.

They can be painted or not but need to be real nails (no artificial) and in great shape. No chips, no grown out gel nails. No nail designs/art. No crazy colors. Classic red, deep burgundy, pale pink, nude, or bare.

Agreed. French is very 1995.

I've seen celebs going back to French recently and ugh it looks so trashy.

It just sends a message that you have nothing better to do with your time and money than sit in a nail salon. No need for it.

U-MC is still MC.

You aren't Princess Kate with royal nail polish rules.

However, I do think polished finger nails look low class unless it's a neutral shade. Pretty at times, but Lower Uncton

How boring are you folks? I certainly don't like the crazy long nails, but short nails in dark colors are lovely.

This is the dumbest thread ever.

As opposed to spending your time (which is money) criticizing beauty decisions that have nothing to do with you? Got it.

Seriously. Anyone who says that you should spend your entire life with bare nails, lest someone think you’re not upper class, wow. I’d rather die than spend my life being that bland and anxious.
