It is true - Stuyvesant HS in New York and Cambridge Rindge and Latin are the top feeders to Harvard along with Philips Andover and Philips Exeter. |
It is where Matt Damon and Ben Affleck went to HS - it is a public HS. |
Probably with a good number of faculty children.
Lots of Ivy deferrals at my DC's public school. |
You left of Trinity (NY), St. Paul’s (boarding), Chaplin (NY) Locally STA, Sidwell and GDS typically have multiple kids going |
This is a good article on Harvard feeder schools

Potomac had 4 last year to Harvard. At least 2 were ED. 1 I believe got in off the wait list. Class was about 112 students. |
So while Harvard is just one Ivy, some of the conventional wisdom on DCUM seems to have been disproved this year, at least for the ED round.
13.4% ED acceptance rate; most competitive ever; majority were women (many of whom had interest in computer science and physical science) International admits were (11.2%) up from last year Students from 49 states Asian Americans were 26.1 percent of admits, up from 24.2 percent last year African American admits were 12%, down from 13.9% last year Latino admits held steady at about 10% https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2018/12/14/2018-early-action-admits/ |
There's nothing in that article about Harvard agreeing to take 12 applicants a year from CRLS. Where did you get that from? |
If all these feeder schools or admissions are concentrated among few schools, there aren’t a lot of spots left for the kids in the rest of the country |
Sure they're feeders. But PP was claiming that Harvard agreed to take 12 students a year from Cambridge Rindge and Latin. |
It’s not on the campus unless you consider the city of Cambridge to be Harvard’s campus. I don’t think they have a formal agreement but they always take a good amount. Perhaps it was originally set up as a feeder school way back when. |
Harvard has stated they have a commitment to accept as many local kids as possible. Cambridge has a lot of minorities. Harvard actively recruits there which is something they don’t do at other schools. |
GDS does quite well at Harvard. |
