The behavior issues manifest in the later elementary grades. I really do hope it works out. |
Ugh get a clue. Black UMC and up and Hispanic UMC and up do the same things. The facts again are you have 40-45% at risk and 70-80% FARMS in the district schools. The math doesn't add up for anyone who wants a quality education for their kids. Which is why people bail unless they are in a richer area get a good charter number or go private. Thanks, I think. We've had our share of behavior issues, and the school handles then reasonably. We've also had our share of behavior issues in high SES settings. Not always handled so well. |
The Deal families are at least thankful that their kids don't have to go to Hardy. They still have school uniforms there. Maybe midnight basketball, too. |
God I hope you are not really a Deal parent - the Deal parents I know are far brighter and more reasonable than you. I suspect you are really an insecure future Hardy parent who comes onto every DCUM thread she spots to bash Hardy even though you don't know the first thing about it. And I love the Midnight Basketball dog whistle. Keep it classy. |
+1. Another parent IB for Deal, and I doubt that they're really a Deal parent--have not heard anyone talk like this about Hardy. My oldest is still pretty young, but I like the idea of a smaller school like Hardy. |
You should offer to trade on Craigslist your Deal IB spot for Hardy. You will probably get 100 offers. |
I’ll trade you for a SH spot. It’s also small. |
And another dumb post from Ms. Anti-Hardy. There are lots of in-bound families that are very happy with Hardy and aside from your persistent insinuations on DCUM I'm not even aware of any unhappy parents who, unlike you, have the courage to actually send their kids to Hardy and have actual first hand experience with the school. And lots of out-of-boundary families that would be thrilled to get into Hardy. I'm a Deal parent with a kid who is somewhat lost in the shuffle at a massive school like Deal - if I weren't 3 blocks from Deal I'd happily have my kid go to Hardy. The shorter lines to get thru security every morning would make up for the longer commute. |
This is true no doubt, if your IB middle school sucks. Compared to all the rest, Hardy looks pretty good. Compared to Deal, not so good. |
PP. My oldest is 6. I’d guess that by the time she’s of age, we won’t even be having these conversations. Hardy will be just as sought after as Deal by then, if not before. |
| I would hope that Deal doesn’t stand still while Hardy tries to catch up. Then again, it’s DC. |
| While Deal and Hardy families compete and throw stones, other DCPS middle schools will truly blossom and become the stars in D.C., or at least share some of the limelight. |
Let’s hope so! It would be great if there were a bunch of solid middle schools. |
PP and Deal IB parent. Agreed. |
