I just turned 50, help me not descend into frump town.

I have very pale skin with black hair so the contrast looks good on me. Yup, even at my age. I keep my roots in check by going to my hairdresser every 3 wks.

Very fit and slim. Usually wear heels unless I am exercising. I wear mostly European designers and Splendid and Nike/Under Armour for leisure. At my age, it is worth it to invest in beautiful clothes and a good tailor. Also, a personal trainer if you have not been exercising and need help with a workout routine. The best clothes are not going to hide a dumpy figure.

I have a dear friend a little older who has been wearing leggings and a tunic top since her forties. Not an attractive look but she does not care! That's an option too.

You sound unbearable. I'd rather spend time with a nice person no matter what they wear.

Their price points are all over but I find that the looks can either be gotten by rethinking stuff in my closet plus buying something from them plus supplementing from the gap (especially jeans). I like the nice priced classic handbags on their site that are both age appropriate and look classic. If you look at enough of their clothes/outfits, you will begin to see that they are careful to mix in some dresses with flats, long sleeves to hide arms, knee and midi lengths, scarves, ponchos and all with coordinating jewelry.

Here are some links so you can see what I mean:

I'm on there email blast list. The emails are great -- they have outfit suggestions, sometimes tied to a particular destination (wedding, NYC weekend, beach party, etc).

This stuff is nice but screams, "I'm 50+"

I’m 48 and couldn’t be bribed to wear any of these outfits. Horrid is the word, not “nice.”

What's wrong with this one: https://www.halsbrook.com/catalog/product/25694 ?

The usual European designers (Lagerfeld, Sander, Dior, San Laurent, Givenchy, Armani), or something new and a little less pricey? Anyone looks good in those clothes.

For shoes that are comfortable, I wear stylish sneakers religiously- not clunky running shoes. They are a great option IMO. I save the heels for going out.

Agree along with a nice structured/coordinated tote and shoes. Some light makeup - lip color, mascara and concealer. Neatly styled hair and no obvious roots. Moisturized hands and face, don't forget the neck.

I prefer Valentino, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu/Prada, Moschino and Rick Owens. I can't wear Armani or Sander and never tried Lagerfeld but I am not a Chanel type.

I think the key to not "descending into frump town" definitely starts from within, by being excited about life and doing what you love. I've found some really great wellness and antiaging products that are pretty amazing and would be happy to share, if you'd like!

Agree with first part and love suggestions on your second part

Every time I see this thread I can’t help but sing in my head “won’t you take me to frumpy town?”

That might indicate my age and unfortunately I have no tips bc I am the mayor of frumpy town

Stylish sneaker links:
Nike cortez - a personal favorite. I have the blush for spring/ summer:

Adidas:I love white superstar but the mesh knit ones
are great looking too IMO

I work in a casual office and wear jeans, sneakers, a shirt or tee and blazer daily. I am on the go a lot so that's why I started wearing sneakers. I won't go back to heels. And i'm short, so I avoid flats.

I think virtually all sneakers are frumpy. Sorry. The ones you picked here are definitely frumpy. But that's fine. There is nothing wrong with being frumpy. But why not own it?
