For what major?
Columbia is a cut throat kind of place in many majors - do you want that?

Financial Economics. Very cutthroat. Don't care too much

Take this with a huge grain of salt of course, but over the last few pages, you haven't expressed real interest in any major. Why did you apply to schools that required you to declare a major? A couple days ago, you were ready to do a cognitive science major st Vanderbilt. Now Financial Economics at Columbia? You don't seem to know what you want to study.

When all your decisions are known, I'd suggestion you eliminate the ones that dump you right into a major. That doesn't seem like the right route for you at this point.

Cogsci b/c my parents wanted me to do it. I also applied linguistics to Columbia, but I plan to switch right away.

A better question would be why do you seem so confused.

Either way, I wouldn’t head to Columbus or Chicago either . Choose a school with many majors to choose from and a place lower on the insanely cut throat achievement train. Kids at Columbia and Chicago are hard core. Vanderbilt or UVa sound better for you.

That is very presumptuous. OP would be exposed to opportunities, resources and peers at Columbia and Chicago that cannot be matched by Vanderbilt or UVA. How can you know from an anonymous thread what school is best for OP? Admits overwhelmingly choose Columbia or Chicago over UVA or Vandy for a reason.

She doesn’t know what she wants to do, she doesn’t seem intense at all. Failing out of an intense college is not a good experience despite the bumper sticker and peers.

Vandy trumps Uva. All the Uva moms will be (secretly) very jealous of you.

For the umpteenth time, s/he was admitted to a program that doesn't even interest them. What good is a scholarship to spend four years in a program you don't even like?
