Not sure what median scores for RM were but the median percentile scores for language section for accepted students was 90 and median percentile score for math was 90. Plus 82% accepted had GPA of 4.0. DD scored 93% percentile, math percentile 87%, didn't get in. |
sorry - 93% was for the language section. |
Dang, your daughter is a beast! Good luck making a decision. |
|
Any idea how many students applied vs how many seats are available?
Is it 30% acceptance rate? |
| Accepted RMIB, PHS Global, SMACS, Humanities. |
Aww, thanks. She worked really REALLY hard on the applications. And, her teachers really like her. And, I think she is a beast in a sense. She's really old-timey and prudish and crotchety, & we call her "Grammie," but she is a beast in her own weird way! |
More than 1000 for RMIB for 125 accepted. More than 650 at Blair STEM for 100 spots. |
I think it really depends how you calculate it. I think 800-900 apply for RMIB & Blair each but 100 are accepted from each. Who knows how much overlap that incliudes. Do you calculate what is accepted from how many applied or total seats from total applied? So many kids apply for more than 1 program. Some apply to a bunch (like my kid) some know more what they want and apply to only one of just a few. Some get into 1 some 3 some 5 some waitlisted. My kid got into 5, so there will be 4 seats opening up. But, hard to know success rate since some friends applied to 1 or 2 and others applied to a bunch. I guess you try to make an educated guess on the extent of overlapping applications to figure it out... |
I think a lot of seats will become available for RM. |
| My DD waitlisted for Poolesville SMCS and Global, any suggestions to help increase the chances of acceptance??? |
Wow, this is very interesting. I thought that most kids who applied to SMCS and Global and were are accepted to SMCS, would be accepted to Global too. Plus the median scores for Global are very similar to SMCS. |
Not even waitlisted? These are very high scores... |
Sorry, do not keep your hopes too high. Unfortunately success to get off waitlist for RM and Bliar is very small. Do not forget that waitlist pool is big and not ranked. |
Several years ago we did appeal in this situation (it was denied), but also my child wrote additional Essay explaining why PHS program would be great fit, and got extra recommendations from teachers who originally did not provide recommendations. Since additional data that was added during appeal end up in file, I believe it helped in second round. So child was invited to both. Good luck. There would be many seats open. Very often Poolesville invites same kids to multiple programs. |
Well, I'm fairly certain at least one seat will become available for RM. |
