When do they notify about HS magnet school acceptances?

I’m the poster with a child in GE and I think the comment about knowing whether you are a SMCs or GE student is true. It’s not just test scores- obviously many kids are accepted to both programs. It depends on your child. A very driven super competitive child that loves math and science SHOULD do SMCs. My DC needs more downtime then SMCs would have offered. Some families choose GE because of more schedule flexibility and others so that their child can participate in sports etc.

Whether you are, sure, but not for everybody else. That's where the arrogance comes in. Claiming to know things you don't know. That and the bragging about he got into everything "easily." You have no idea where he was in admissions, but regardless, why state something like that? Just be grateful.

It arrived last week in regular mail. Still have time to accept or not.

Depending what you want. Aren't decisions supposed to be mailed long time ago? I guess your child was waitlisted for Poolesville.
Child in Poolesville can take Magnet Math (if interested.)
They have a lot of field trips in Ecology.
Ecology has their own track with required subjects. It is kind of mixture of science with social studies. Go look online at required classes.
Roughly 1/3 of Ecology are local kids.
My child has a lot of friends from Ecology.
They can participate in many school technical clubs with SMCS kids (Robotics etc.)
Your child will need to get up early and be dropped at Duffied at 6:55 for next four years, are you committed?
Wootton is great too.
Does your child want to go? Will he/she miss her friends from Frost/Cabin John?
Very few Wootton kids will be there. After school activities would require a lot of coordination. (There is a Ride-on bus to Kentlands from PHS, and I guess you will need another one to get to your place)
My child loves PHS, but child is in different program.
We like PHS, since it is small, friendly and supportive. Not that crazy competitive.
We do not like that school is so far away.

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes DC was also waitlisted in Poolsville, got in last week. Good to know that he can take the science/math classes. He is more of a science type (not too much Math/CS) and not that competitive type either. He loves school and loves social science also. We are not that far from Dufief. Heard there is a bus from QOHS also. Also, Heard that there is an activity bus leaving PHS at 4.30pm, is that correct? DC is leaning to go, DC can take the SMCS classes specially science research classes.

DC is not super competitive type. Loves science and social sciences. Not into engineering/technology. He was interested RMIB and GEH. Got waitpooled in both. Got into GE last week. Have to decide by Tuesday next week. My DC also needs downtime and flexibility.

Sorry, but the comment sounds snobbish, not mature. the idea that he knows what other kids should be doing? And the whole assertion that he "got into all 4 programs easily" suggests your attitude isn't the best either. Yikes.

Glad we are Down County. Enjoy the "surprise," Poolesville friends.

Signed,
Mom of kid who got into 5 application programs (SMACS, CAP, both Wheatons, RMIB), for which they worked very hard and for which we were very grateful.

Agree with ‘Mom’. Very snobbish and arrogant comment. Don’t see any maturity, rather the opposite. It only proves that you have child who is very good in in school, life is a marathon and not only academics.

Then go fort it! You always can come back to W if something will not work after first quarter. Nothing to loose.
