I hope to answer any of these now if anyone is curious.

I think the vast majority of your readers here are likely female OP, and we may be far more informed about the specifics of these things than you would guess. So we're more interested in the emotions/thinking behind things than the mechanics - so to speak.

I hope your wife recovers easily. Sounds like you and she are a good united team - good for you. Take care.

Why would you want to risk going through this again?

+1. You are placing pretty much all the burden of family planning on her. Don't you think she has done her part by being on birth control, presumably for years, bearing two kids, and now having to undergo an abortion? Your turn.

The regular obgyn most likely does not provide abortion services.

Yeah most don't

And the anti-choicers who make death threats toward abortion providers and picket outside of abortion clinics are part of the reason why many obgyns will not perform abortions. Thank goodness for PP and the practitioners who risk their lives every day to fill this need in our country. I wish more private practitioners felt comfortable offering abortion services.

Yup, time for you to step up to the plate.

I'm glad you have the option of legal, safe, clinical support.

Same. I support you, OP.

Same again.

Gosh, PP!

Wow! Thanks for the tip! I bet they never were even aware of this option! What a help you have been! What would we do without this insightful suggestion. Thanks again!

Sincerely,
No one.

Well,I don't see OP replying.

He's probably at home caring for his wife as he should be

That's because he rushed into the procedure and yelled "STOP EVERYTHING, DW, have you ever heard about this new thing called addition?" All thanks to you.

In no alternate universe ever.

Pro life for just this reason. Baby had a family to go home to, and they just dispose of it.

There was no baby.

On the pill. Best guess is there was a break in daily medication when it ran out between orders. Won't make that mistake again.

So you WEREN'T on birth control. You had been, and then you stopped taking it because you ran out, right? Not a judgement, but just clarifying - the pill didn't fail, you just didn't take it as prescribed.

I hate to pile on, but it does bother me when people say their birth control failed when it didn't really fail.
I had a college roommate who used to take a fistful of her pills at a time on Fridays and then cried dramatically about "why me? I did everything right, I was on birth control, why am I one of the unlucky ones" when she got pregnant and had an abortion. I sat there with my mouth shut, and over the years as she retold the story of her "birth control failure", and it really bothers me that it is severe misinformation on a very important topic.

That's frustrating, but that's not what happened here. A person missed a couple of doses of birth control and probably did not realize it. That's not the same as what you're talking about. I wonder why your friend felt like she needed to lie about birth control, why she wasn't able to take it consistently, etc.

No, it was a "break in daily medication when it ran out" - it wasn't like she missed taking one pill she usually took like clockwork and took it the next morning when she realized. A woman knows when her pack has run out. It makes more sense though that it's the DH posting - who knows what really happened. I found it confusing when he said "best guess" but makes sense since it wasn't his birth control.

My insurance covers that. My understanding is if you pay out of pocket, it's around $475

Wow, the one I had in 1992 (not at PP though)was $300. Think for a second about how much every other healthcare cost has gone up in the past 25 years.

Good luck to OP and his wife. I, along with 95% of other woman in her shoes, have never regretted my decision.
