Does this calculation include retired households who do not earn income anymore?

Also the median Household income is $93k. OP is asking for household income of 65-75, not individual income.

The prices are creeping up out there. Seems like the urban revitalization is creeping northward.

I make $42,000 and live in Rockville. My rent is $1100.

Yes. A tiny one bedroom.

Blimey, it's an English basement, I'd wager.

English basement, appliances from the 70s, old parquet floors or old carpet, and either... Yellow line north of Columbia heights or Red Line to the east of Union Station (towards NY Avenue). Maybe even a hot plate or two-eye stove. Oh, also possible illegal with an egress (door to the outside or window in the bedroom).

OP how close was I?

Also I meant 'without an egress'.

NP here, but in my WOTR neighborhood the typical 1BR rent is less than 1000, but can be much higher in a renovated building. several minutes from two metro stops by vehicle. Not gonna say where, because I don't want DCUMMERS flooding my hood! the thing about cheap rent in dc is that you wont find them online, and they will not be new or perfect. just look for signs that say "for rent".
