GDS

As current parent, I can say that GDS is all about barely controlled chaos. So I can't say I am very surprised over the confusion. Hang in there, things will sort themselves out.

Just got off the phone with someone in the lower admissions office. They DID send out emails.

So does not getting an email definitely mean no? Or is there still a chance?
Anonymous
Well when I got earlier I was told they "did not" send out emails; its way too much confusion either way!

Not sure, but he also said letters were mailed yesterday. I'm assuming no emails means no admission

I swear this is not sour grapes because GDS was not our first choice and we did get into our first choice. We didn't get an email so I assume we did not get in. However, given how ridiculous their notification process has been if the school is run in the same fashion I am glad we don't have to waste time pondering if we should accept a spot. All of the back and forth they created over whether they sent emails or not is completely ridiculous and was totally not necessary.

Was anyone accepted at GDS who did not receive an email? I cannot fathom why the school would be so dishonest about sending out emails to accepted families. Very strange...

+1 they either want you to think it is an "exclusive club" or they are needlessly sadistic. Just send everyone an email...or nobody an email. Its offensive either way.

And don't outright lie about sending the emails. Strange behavior.

I've often heard the school described as "organized chaos." The organized part remains to be seen, but the chaos I think is a perfect description! No wonder people are so offended when GDS tries to compare itself to Sidwell. For the record we didn't get into Sidwell either, but I can now appreciate the no nonsense approach of their decision notification process. I am not left wondering if just maybe there is still hope. The process is stressful enough. Why add to people's anxiety???

I find this infuriating. People are adults. Why not just e-mail all results. This is so dishonest and disrespectful. The haves and have nots. Really makes me wonder about the school.

Check your spam folder.

Well, maybe they didn't consider people would share the results on DCUM.....I regret I did. GL everyone.

True, No one on the board really cares.....just need to make the call to the grandparents.

+1. It feels sloppy and unconsidered (and we are happy having gotten into first and second choice).
