Make it your way, OP. I agree that restaurant lasagna (and maybe your friends') is pretty gross.
You can experiment and make a lighter version, leave out sauce or do whatever you want! I don't like most desserts in this country because they're so incredibly sweet, probably since manufacturers put corn syrup in everything, American tastebuds became habituated to sugar. So I just make my own with half the sugar. |
I love lasagna the way my mom makes it. She makes her own roux, her own sauce (not from jar), and she doesn't use cheese and it tastes good with/without meat. When I was younger I thought all lasagna was made like my mom's lasagna, until I ordered it at a restaurant and it was yuck! I only like my mom's recipe, otherwise it's just a big glop of mess. |
| I hate lasagna. I don't like ricotta or tomato sauce. |
My situation exactly! |
| No, I love lasagna. What I like are the stacked layers, the just right amount of sauce , and the various cheese. Its so creamy and tasty. |
p.s. I don't really like the meat, just cheese or the vegetable lasagna WF makes (rarely). |
I hate Lasagna, pasta and rice... Can't stand the texture. |
| Yes! Ricotta is gross. |

I haven't read the whole thread but DCUM loves lasagna. It's always being recommended for potlucks, for dinner parties, for vegetarians.
I think it's fine the first night, but leftover lasagna is gross. |
| I hate it. Need to find a support group |
| Its ok, I don't love the ricotta. I make it with full-fat cottage cheese and prefer that. |
| I like Mexican Lasagna from the frozen food section. Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense but it nice and spicy. I add a few dashes of Tobasco. |
I used to have a recipe for a black bean lasagna that included cotija and some other Mexican cheeses. It was sort of a cross between lasagna and a stacked enchilada. Sounds weird but it was SO good. I lost the recipe years ago but keep thinking that I need to recreate it. |
Recipe? This sounds awesome. |
| Get ready to gag... I was once served lasagna that was made with noodles, cottage cheese, and... KETCHUP. |
