I hate the Pioneer Woman's voice

At the time, her story was that she was this city girl who fell in love with a cowboy and moved to the country. As it turns out, she grew up in small town Oklahoma but moved to LA for a short time and thus became a “city” girl. She’s pretty great at marketing herself, but her white lies and tendency to try to portray reality in a particular way give me an icky feeling so I don’t watch her.

I think she is a classic histrionic character, someone who needs to and does see her life and herself in very romanticized, idealized ways. (Like an actress would. Her gushing about what looks like her average husband reminds me of Julia roberts, who often does the same thing. Is she trying to convince us or herself about the fabulousness of the "Marlboro man" I have no idea). I think deep down she always saw herself as a charming, young, pretty girl I think, which is how I understand her not getting that her little girl voice in midlife is deeply odd. I think is why the orange hair does not register with her either. She wants to stand out, probably grew up with a significant amount of attention and thrives and needs that attention. As someone from a Mediterranean culture, the food is just simply not anything that appeals to me but I get that it does for many people. I don't understand why she does not work on that voice.

Hearing that she paid to produce her own shows (is this true?) helps me understand how she has been able to maintain that voice because I feel like pros would tell her to work on modifying that. It needed to be refined. I cannot listen to it, it feels deeply put on, and distracting like an affectation.

That's all I wanted to say. Vent for the night. You?

Everything about her annoys me to no end. I cannot tolerate her show for more than the credits. Not even that.

I hate her whole Line.
She is popular for 2 reasons: easy, fat friendly, unhealthy food when the rest of the world was trying to not die of heart disease
She was overweight when ever other popular cooking/housekeeping/homeschooling leader was in shape

the red hair is an absolute cartoonish color.

Yes to all this, however. Her Tuscan bean soup with kale, shrimp, basil and giant shards of parm is delicious and spicy and not at all bland or sweet. Srsly all you foodies- try that soup. It’s better than any other kale/bean soup I’ve ever made.

But generally yes to everything else you all said! 😀

She talks with “baby voice” I can’t handle! Why didn’t she grow up during puberty and mature into womanhood?????

I tried really hard to hear her Sister’s voice to see if it’s a family trait???? Her Sister does not speak like her….

I can’t believe she worked in LA with that voice, forgive my judgement, hurts my ears!

She is literally a failed actress who moved back to flyover country to marry rich.

That is a brutal and rather unfair way of putting it. She is from that part of Oklahoma, her family were comfortably off. She wouldn't be the first person to return to her hometown from the big city and she did write about it in a tongue in cheek manner.

Whatever it was, she seems to have made a very happy marriage with multiple kids growing up and has a pretty good life. It's hard not to be impressed by the brand she created, even if you don't care for her food or voice, she's been used by business schools as an example of creating your own successful brand. That's very, very impressive and far more accomplished than virtually all of us posting anonymously on DCUM. I don't question that her family's prosperity gave her the resources in getting the brand launched, but she actually did it. Which is a significant effort. And she built on it, which is even more significant effort. There's a hustle side to her. And she is always, and I mean always, positive and cheerful in her public persona, which is also why these nitpicking of her fall flat for the shallowness they really are.

She did not have that voice in L.A. She is a grifter who plays it up for that country bumpkin shtick even though she's married to a billionaire heir.

I'm intrigued. Because it's not a question of satisfaction. It's a question of awareness. Look at the last few posts. Accusations of stealing lands? Grifter? Histrionics?

It's no longer a question of thinking I know what the situation is, I know what it is. Someone has issues, to put it politely. The anonymity of the internet brings them out. And it has nothing to do with Pioneer Woman.
