I think she is a classic histrionic character, someone who needs to and does see her life and herself in very romanticized, idealized ways. (Like an actress would. Her gushing about what looks like her average husband reminds me of Julia roberts, who often does the same thing. Is she trying to convince us or herself about the fabulousness of the "Marlboro man" I have no idea). I think deep down  she always saw herself  as a charming, young, pretty girl I think, which is how I understand her not getting that her little girl voice in midlife is deeply odd. I think is why the orange hair does not register with her either. She wants to stand out, probably grew up with a significant amount of attention and thrives and needs that attention. As someone from a Mediterranean culture, the food is just simply not anything that appeals to me but I get that it does for many people. I don't understand why she does not work on that voice.
