There is no reason why a one size fits all solution needs to be implemented. The county could eliminate centers in areas (such as the ones named above) where they are redundant, and continue using centers in lower SES areas. |

All children in FCPS take the same two tests to qualify for AAP. Some kids qualify and most do not qualify. Most school systems pick and choose very selectively who they will test for gifted programs in elementary school. No Child is getting any more than they are qualified to receive. Every child in Fairfax County receives an equal opportunity to get into AAP. It makes zero sense for parents to make complaints that it makes their kid cry when they see friends in AAP and they are not. This is not a valid complaint. Parents writing these types of objections to AAP simply come across spoiled, irrational, lack reasoning skills and critical thinking.... Clearly if non AAP kids are in honors, IB, TJ etc all kids are getting what they need here. |
