OP: there is no such thing as a "typical" center. You'll get better info if you name your Center. |
Our AAP center is Hunters Woods in Reston. As of now, I have not even seen it, but would like to know more about the school. |
You could try starting another thread asking about that particular center. Just be prepared for it to quickly go off course with many posts from a mom who does not have a kid in AAP or in your specific center or pyramid, which will change the topic of your thread into an argument of all the perils of AAP, the opinion that the kids identified for AAP are not even remotely gifted or advanced and just average at best, and that fcps needs to immediately dismantal AAP centers and make every single elementary school into a local level IV in which every single kid is placed into the program. |
Thank you PP...starting a new thread makes sense...this thread sure did derail a lot! |
Talk about not giving it a rest... you could have just ended your post with your first sentence but instead, off you go on another crazed rant. |
The rest of Virginia laughs at this debate. 'Mandated' AAP? Haahaahahha
|
+1 You're so right. |
We're not laughing AT you. We're laughing WITH you. ![]() |
That's right. It's mandated. You're stuck with it. And even if Centers were abolished, your kid still wouldn't be in the "special class" at your now LLIV school. And you'll still find a way to be pissed about the "special treatment" that the AAP kids are getting. Suck it up. ![]() |
Stay Klassy. |
I'm so sorry you didn't get your way by having the posts you dislike eliminated. I guess we're all allowed to express our opinions, not just you! ![]() |
The website feedback thing? Yeah-- that wasn't me. Maybe more than one AAP parent in this forum is tired you pushing the anti- AAP agenda on every single AAP thread? Food for thought. |
And here's some food for thought for you: there are plenty of other parents expressing the same opinions, not just one. Might want to be honest and acknowledge that. |
You missed my point about it being mandated. AAP centers are a concoction of FFX county. They can offer your gifted services, just in a different format |
OP I posted before that we went to the center school I had the same feelings you do of wanting to stay in the neighborhood and so on. But my neighbor who had done it said you are lucky and if it were him he wou take advantage of the opportunity and go to the center. Never looked back. DS is at TJ now. The base school was alwa saying that my DS wasn't smart enough for the then GT and they did it like the AAP program and so on. DS needed an ES education not an opportunity to learn how to sit still and wait for the rest of the class to catch up. That was not a very healthy place for him to be either Thinking he was the smartest. Better for him to be with peers. Sorry phone typing |
