Confused about MV

We got in, and I had pretty much already decided to enroll my kids when we attended the enrollment event. I was completely underwhelmed by the grotty facilities and seeming lack of organization to the event, and I was irritated by the woman who told me that my pay stub was too old (not her fault, I know). We still proceeded with enrollment, though with more misgivings than before. I am so glad we did because both of my children have had the most incredible experience at the school -- and that's even without any outdoor space on the grounds. The building is beautiful, the facilities and fantastic, and most of all the staff -- everyone has been just incredible helping my kids transition to immersion (which was very difficult for my older one). Not to sound like a kool-aid drinker, but every single day I wake up feeling lucky that my kids have such a fantastic place to spend their days. FWIW.

It's worth quite a bit to us because we feel the same way. We are new to the school this year and have had an incredible year. It's all luck getting in to any school you like but it's all work making the school bear fruit and thrive. My kids are so engaged and so joyful about learning. We are still growing and I feel like the good can always get better. Its true...new charters are not for the faint of heart. Luckily we are in it for the long haul and hoping for the best from our efforts.

Maury and Brent are frequently within proximity to those alerts. If you're surprised then you aren't paying attention.

Not that this happened on a weekday, but why doesn't MV get a security guard? One who could walk the premises etc.

I am sure this will be a hot topic sooner than later. I specifically asked about security concerns because of the neighborhood and they said they haven't had any issues (as of yet) and they feel secure enough with the cameras. I bet when they start having to move small children between buildings they will have more concerned parents and be forced to address the issue.

Well, security guards will have to come from the budget, so there is a trade off. Shouldn't they instead spend the money on a playground??

Money is already in the budget for a "play space" aka playground.

Is it a playground though?

Define playground. I'm not being facetious, people define it differently, so we can't answer without knowing how you are defining it.

NP here, but playground is defined as:

"an outdoor area provided for children to play on, especially at a school or public park"
