Albeit small, the library will be the meeting room used for the tours. |
I wouldn't call that a library... |
^^^More like "a room with a bunch of books in it." |
That's its current state, but it will be a true library next school year. |
According to the tour it will "eventually" be a library, but not next year. |
Have been trying to create a Mundo Families of Capitol Hill email list, But maybe there is another form of cumuli ovation that would be better. Maybe a Facebook group, especially as the community grows?. Maybe we could move this discussion to MOths and figure out how to stay in touch easily, have park play dates, parent wine nights, and notify each other about Spanish language offerings on or near the Hill. |

Maybe Capitol Hill should be given a neighborhood preference? And then the playground can become the Capitol lawn, with solar-powered shuttles. |
We just had a parents meeting at the school Friday trying to line up leadership for next year's padres groups. You should get involved if you have the time. I was a room parent this year and will probably be again next year. One of the bad things about charters is the geographical spread of the students all around town so it takes a lot more effort to get folks together outside of school. That said MV parents are very active in organizing play dates, movie nights, birthday parties etc. We had a movie night in Petworth last week that was packed so folks definitely come out. I don't live on the Hill but good luck! |
A Facebook group sounds like a great idea. And getting the word out on MOTH makes sense! |
Thanks for the info. One of our concerns has definitely losing the sense of community we have had at Maury. It's good to hear that MV parents work hard to create that. |
Getting back to the subject line, the budget cuts are definitely affecting other schools. Everyone is getting less money than anticipated. That's why Haynes is doing layoffs. |
