Peer Pressure to enroll in your IB?

Mann-it's half the size, and a better school, with better scores, more (and I think better) teachers per class, dedicated community, would not give it up for anything.

Really? Because we are inbounds for Janney, played the lottery, and are enrolling at another DCPS. To hell with what the neighbors think--it's about the best fit for our kids.

this is off topic but I am dying to know what other DCPS makes a person leave IB Janney!!

It is a huge school, so maybe someone is looking for something smaller (like Hearst) or is looking for a speciality program (like Montessori, dual language, etc.)

^^ janney is not the end all and be all. In fact it speaks to how terrible our options are that you guys think it's some holy grail of public education. In surrounding districts it would be just another school.
And it's not crazy brave for the PP to choose another school over Janney. She's IB. She can always go back. It's not really risk taking- it's kerping all of your options opened.
Good for her! (Not sarcastic)

Was it hard to find something IB for Hearst? We have been keeping an eye on the market but haven't found that much is listed IB for Hearst. Like you, we would prefer Hearst to Janney.

Its nice to have such good choices. Unfortunately most of us in DC aren't so fortunate.

The market is pretty thin, but it is possible. I am not going to say that buying anywhere in DC is anything but expensive and an ordeal. I saw a very nice 4-bedroom apartment recently in Tilden Gardens. It is probably long gone now.

We're IB Hearst and at the school but we are in a tiny tiny apt and desperate for a house that's less than $1.2M. Having a hard time finding it over there.

The 4-bedroom was $750K though who knows what it went for in the end.
