Poll-do you fasten your bra in front or back?

Anonymous
What kind of bras are people rotating around? Seems like it would risk warping underwires or tearing at fragile cup material. I've always fastened in the back but I'm not huge (32D). Also, does this mean you do the band first, then pull on the straps? I've always put arms through straps, dropped into cups, fastened band, and then a final adjustment. Seems like the straps would need to be really loose to put on once the band is fastened. Droopy straps drive me nuts.

Nope, not at all. I put my arms through the straps, position the cups on my boobs, then pull the band around and fasten it.

I'm the PP who was initially taught to clasp in front and turn. I found it much harder to get things properly positioned that way, and it's one of the main reasons I switched. I haven't tried it since I was about 16, though.

I'm a front fastener, but out of curiosity I tried back fastening once or twice tonight. It took me much longer, mostly because the clasps were not aligning properly- the top hook kept latching on the bottom latch. This didn't seem like a dexterity problem, as the hooks were latching, just not correctly. Is this an issue that goes away with practice, or is there some trick to making sure they lign up correctly, or does it just often take you back-fasteners a couple tries to get it right?

FWIW I'm 34C and the bra only had 2 hooks, so nothing too complicated.

Yep, just practice.

I'm the 30D. It's really not that crazy, you wouldn't particularly notice my boobs or anything if we passed on the street. I actually thought I was a 32C for many years and wore that size regularly ... Then I went for a professional fitting and was told that 30D is my correct size. I didn't really believe it and went for a second fitting elsewhere, same result. So now I wear a 30D. It took some getting used to, but now I like the snug fit around the band.

+1 same here! my mom taught me to do it that way and that's how I have always done it.

My mom is large-chested and taught me to bend over to catch the boobs in the cups and fasten in the back (even before I had anything to catch in the cups). I'm wondering if the fasten-in-the-front move is a hallmark of small-chested women? I remember girls in my camp cabin doing it this way.

A 30 inch chest is incredibly tiny. Are you a size 00?

No, my mother taught me to clasp in front and spin around and she is quite busty. I'm not, a 32B/30C and clasp in the back.

quick Google search

How to properly put on a bra:

1. Fasten your bra in front, and then twist it around so the clasp is in the back.
2. Place your arms in the straps and adjust them so they rest on your shoulders and they're not all twisty or wonky.
3. This is the most important part! ...
4. Now, stand up.

Have you ever tried to fasten a band behind yourself that's holding up H cups?! The front and turn is much easier. I have to fasten the bra in my swimsuit in the back and it takes 10 minutes and makes me curse.
