| I get my own car until 26, and then I paid for it myself. But If I could rewind and my parents bought me a car at 16, I would LOVE a vintage VW bug. My parents sold theirs (an orange one) for $500. I so wish they had kept it! now I have 2 kids, a husband and a dog, and a bug is impractical, but I so desperately want one. for Christmas, please santa. |
+1 One of my friends had a vintage VW bug, nicely restored with a light blue paint job (bought by her grandparents, not her parents). We all thought that was the coolest car! |

I would never buy my child a car. That's number one.
A 16 year old has no business owning their own car. They have no business having a license either, but that's a different story. They are definitely not mature and responsible enough to own their own car. That's number two. |
| Um none. Turning 16 does not mean we bestow upon our kids a car. They buy their own |
| My oldest child is 14 (will turn 15 in March) so we haven't bought a child a car yet. Currently, the plan is that dh will get a new car and our son will get use of his old car (2010 Jeep Wrangler.) |
| We just handed down our 2007 Accord this summer to DS. I got the new car. |
| Volvo? |
That sounds like a bunch of #2 to me. |
| My DS will have access to a car when he's 16- I take him to sports practices almost every night of the week and am ready for a break. We will buy another car when he does get his license, but it will be for getting himself to various sports fields. He will also be allowed to use it to get to his job (if he gets one and can't walk/metro to it). He will have to ask us to use it for other instances. |
This sounds perfect to me. |
Safe and reliable ride. |
wow. clearly I will have little advice to give, since that is one expensive car. that said.... why not wait until your kid has had a chance to total it before buying a pricey one. Buy something safe and used and then replace before college once driving skills are better? |
NOT appropriate for young drivers. Way cool, but just not safe. I love the look, but really not safe. |
+1. I lived in a town where there was no public transportation. All my friends had their own cars, and no one had anything other than a small fender-bender. My parents were thrilled when I could drive and they didn't have to drive me around to all my activities. |
This is ridicules. Not sure if OP was a troll or not, but if they aren't, who cares if they can afford to spend this much on a car for their kid? |
