This. Those cutesy nicknames seem like they could only happen in exaggerated fictional accounts, but they are very, very real.

This is my first child. I’m not a wasp but my husband is a 10th generation northern Virginian, so I guess that qualifies.

I named the second kid so he got the Catholic Saint name.

And yes first kid has the unrelated cutesy nickname.

So a girl might be Parker but only because it was her mother’s maiden name. Not just because Parker is cute or trendy. Classic names are common but used over and over. Four names is also more common but can be a pain. I posted earlier about all my family have the same names. No joke my first name is named for my grandmother and aunt but my middle name is the same as all female cousins on one side. My brother and father have the same name but neither use it so not confusing.

Maiden names as a first name is more of a southern thing.

This is the answer. Adding John and Martha. Especially Martha. Everyone keeps suggesting white trash aspiration names instead ?

A lot of the families I know with kids named these names are Catholic. Plus some Marys and Patricks of course. But in my area of Virginia there are a lot of wealthy/“old money” Catholics.

I’d add Agatha and Abigail.
